So, how is FLOTUS #53 married to BLOTUS #45?? Or are we counting ALL the women who have been married to and then divorced from someone who became POTUS??
The one issue I had with Michelle was her so-called war on childhood obesity. While not necessarily her fault, it seems that most, if not all, so-called wars on obesity end up being yet more justification for the bullying of fat people and, in Michelle ’s case, the bullying of fat kids!
Totally off-topic. Personally, I despise the acrimonious acronyms of POTUS, FLOTUS, SCOTUS, &c. They seem to me as highly disrespectful of both the office and the people who hold them. While I’m sure these abominations have been around for a long time, I did not perceive them flourishing until Obama came to office. Perhaps that is why I perceive terms like POTUS as so disrespectful.
Two thirds of our First Ladies were clearly activists for righteous causes and suffered for it. One third appear to have been victimised: one by others; the last by another. “So it goes.”
The acronyms are funny enough by themselves, but an episode of “Veep” really hit the satirical sweet spot. The veep wanted a dog, but the first lady wanted one first, and of course it was a matter of FDOTUS.
In countries that have Prime Ministers, are a group of them referred to as “PMs”?? THAT sounds a bit touchy, but at least it’s international in scope….
Betty Ford comes to mind as a First Lady who may have surpassed the president in providing a lasting impact on American society. In particular, her treatment centers for drug and alcohol addiction and her own struggles may exist beyond her husband’s legacy.

Mary Todd Lincoln was accused for just about everything under the sun. She is one of the most misunderstood First ladies we have.
