But they put their kids in private schools or homeschools behind big walls. Let’s do an empirical test: require all members of Congress who vote for teachers to have guns to put their kids and grandkids in public schools. And make them pick up the kids.
The kids are doing an excellent job of motivating their parents and motivating the country by standing up for logical sensible gun control regulations, which to most of us, means no civilian should own assault weapons and assault weapon ammo. That said… we need more political clout… More financial clout… behind the movement. We can do the only thing that they understand and that’s decrease their profits. Boycotting NRA Associated businesses could make a huge difference. Then we’ll find out who’s really running in the country the NRA or the every day common Americans who are the backbone of American voters. The NRA is pretty powerful but they don’t totally own us …..each individual us ….yet!!!!.
That Wayne LaPierre is trying to turn owning guns into a zealot religious platform to reach Trump’s 30% voter platform of evangical Christians who believe anything Trump says should be true. What I know is true is that my son was not born with a gun in his hand. Neither were yours. If God had wanted me or my son to be Shooters…. we would have been born with guns in our hands…. I know that sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it? But they’re using that religious platform to reach the emotions rather than the minds of the people that they want to influence….. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, !!!! NOT ONE MORE CHILD,!!!!! NOT ONE MORE SCHOOL CHILD SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE IN FEAR!!!!
The idea of arming teachers is so obviously stupid that it must be intended as a diversion, so that we have to waste our time talk about that idiocy rather than discussing real problems and real solutions.
It’s a simple negotiation for the NRA/GOP: When drastically fewer guns extant would obviously be an improvement, you suggest the even more guns enter the venue…and then be perfectly willing to “compromise” at “no change”…
“It is absurd that the mass availability of tools expressly designed to end our neighbors’ existence is seen as a natural, acceptable and unchangeable fact of everyday life.”
Teachers do often fail to get their students to learn what they are trying to teach. That doesn’t inherently mean the teacher is flawed and does at least suggest some children are flawed. Currently, a student’s greatest threat comes from fellow students. Arming the teachers might add to the threat from frustrated teachers but the main danger would still be fellow students.
Much work has gone into keeping the disruptive and violent in class out of concern for their futures rather than the safety of the other students.
In a perfect world, none should feel the need to be armed to defend against attackers. If this were a perfect world, we wouldn’t even be having the conversation. It isn’t.
I think that part of the problems is that too many politicians see holding elected office as a “business choice” and not as service to those who elected them. They confuse “constituents” with door mats.
As to whether Americans are “plain dumb shifts,” I offer the following. I was in a local sporting goods store recently, and happened to walk by the firearms section. Every weapon, large and small, had a large yellow tag affixed to the trigger guard that read in large red letters, “WARNING! CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH!” On guns, mind you. My first thought was do guns have any other purpose than causing serious injury or death? My second thought was of a profound sadness that some of my countrymen might actually need such a warning.
Anytime a politician suggests doing something they themselves won’t do – it should be resisted. Until the Congress convenes with AR-15s in its member’s hands, we should not expect teachers to have to carry them.

I have several suggestions on how and who they should be used.

I don’t think the GOP & the NRA read the 2nd Amendment too clearly. The Swiss do a decent job with gun management.

They just blow right by that “well regulated” bit

To the Terrorists running the NRA, “Well Regulated” means; “NO REGULATIONS AT ALL! HOW DARE YOU EVEN THINK OF ANYTHING LIKE THAT???”

Repeating myself: We have a well regulated militia, the armed forces of our country.

It’s the NRepublicanA that needs regulating. Or is that too much “big government”?

First is right. Second should be “cut taxes”. The third is let’s give public money to private schools because who cares about the public schools.

Waitaminute! Teachers’ Unions are our enemies. Should we be giving them guns?

We all know what guns are really for.

Typical GOP rhetoric. Irrational, yet insane.

Republicans would force teachers to buy guns and not give them a tax break for doing it seeing as they ended the teachers deductions.
Billionaires need your money, thanks to Trump’s Goldman Sachs elite cabinet.
