Properly, atheism is the idea that gods have no power over your life. They may, or may not, exist, but that means nothing to you. The idea that atheism means the the absolute rejection of even the POSSIBILITY of the existence of “God(s)” is fairly recent. The absolute rejection of even the possible existence of “God(s)” is properly called ANTI-theism and IS, rankly, a religious concept, because it is a BELIEF. Atheism is NOT properly the opposite of Theism. It’s like the difference between Moral/Immoral versus Amoral. Theism/Antitheism versus Atheism.
