What part of “he sees you when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re awake” did you miss?

All kidding aside, Frazz is one of my favorite comics; love Caulfield and his teacher. I had a 6th grade teacher who looked just like her, but not as smart. My teacher went to the lunchroom every afternoon and took home all the cans that had been emptied for lunches, plus anything left in the classroom trash can that might some day be of use. A close neighbor told me when she died it took many truckloads to empty her home and outbuildings.

This I have learned: You can find the most noble, virtuous, slam-dunk, everybody-wins system in the world, and somebody will try to game it. This also I have seen: Some of those people gaming the system will do so successfully. And this I have seen as well: Gaming the system successfully generally translates to everybody, even the gamer, ending up with less. But the margins are more satisfying to certain personalities.

This I have still not learned: Saying stuff like that out loud often works kind of the same way, where everybody ends up a little less content, some more than others. Oopsie.
