    Look up “Bloody April” (April, 1917) which was a particularly deadly period for the RAF. So, more like Join the Air Service so you can be killed in the air or when your body hits the ground after you have jumped from your burning plane…

    The great Mort Drucker (MAD Magazine), in his artwork for a parody of Summer of ’42, created a sandwich sign outside a drug store that read, “Join the Army (This may be the last patriotic war ever.)”
