United CEO’s first comment was to condemn the passenger. Only after the stock started falling and his bonus was put in jeopardy, did he decide that maybe he should apologize. That sounds like a really “sincere” (note the use of quotes) apology to me.
First they dragged people off of planes, and I said nothing because I had to make my connection. Then they dragged people out of McDonald’s and I said nothing because I hadn’t finished my Big Mac. Then they dragged people out of the Walmart, but I didn’t want to cause trouble. Then they dragged people out of their cars, but Blue lives matter. When they came for me, there was not one left to protect me from the corporate entities, just scared citizens on their cell phones. Welcome to Trump’s America.
The flight was not “over booked”. United had sold all of the seats on that flight and then found out that they needed to get a flight crew to another airport to keep from delaying another plane. If they need to be able to move crews around like that, they should just leave a couple of seats unsold on each flight “just in case”, but they’re greedy, like the land agent who stood the acre up on end so he could sell both side of it.
