“All other federal agencies are audited annually … and with rare exceptions, they pass every year. The Pentagon alone has never been audited, leaving roughly $8.5 trillion in taxpayer dollars unaccounted for since 1996. The Pentagon has for years kept lousy books with impunity.”
^ Well, if the working poor had any concerns about disease, healthcare, afterschool care, food, jobs, or housing, they wouldn’t have voted Trump, now would they? I’m sure they’ll all be fine on their own; after all, that’s what they wanted.
Foolish, foolish red state voters! No more Big Bird for anyone if this budget passes. Hopefully there will be a pox on the Republican house in upcoming elections.
The reality is, it’s not ‘the military’ that will benefit from the budget shift, but those who manufacture the (overly expensive) bombers (one of which the POTUS even complained about), submarines and weaponry. For the average member of the military, pay remains the same (in some states, they qualify for food stamps), and they will still struggle for the medical care they need from the Veterans Administration…
What’s interesting is what they say they want to buy, is what the military has been saying for a long time they don’t NEED more of, like tanks, and airplanes that won’t fly, ships that won’t float or be ready for battle. Ah, but contractors and Congresspersons on the take?
Is there an upcoming war that we haven’t been told about? We’ve already got the largest (by far!) and most modern military – why are we taking money away from the old and the sick to buy more planes and bombs?

Many trump voters, incredibly, are among the working poor and live in red states who overwhelmingly voted for trump.

You forgot to add the cost of security for his family and his weekly trips to Florida and his golf games.

We’re going to need that military budget when we invade Canada and Mexico to protect ourselves.
