Our current political parties mock our Constitution by serving plutocrats and only pretending that they are representatives of the people of a republic. Other nations have dealt with healthcare and education in an economical, efficient ways that should shame our representatives, instead they’re driven by ideologies that work only to divide not unite, our nation, to a sum greater than its parts.
and he’s been lining up that shot for six years. What a waste of time this do-nothing republican congress has been. too bad no one told Trump voters it was up to THEM to drain the swamp. By the time the president is elected, the swamp has already been voted back in.
I can only wonder why the Republicans did not have a viable replacement healthcare plan on the ready the very first time they voted to repeal the ACA. ..And now, 7 years later, this is what we get from the Republicans to care for the health of Citizens of the greatest Nation on earth. The Republicans are a joke.
The problem with political ideologies is that they are just ideas … abstractions, things that cannot be weighted or measured … yet, people have faith in these abstractions even when strategies based on them, fail. Conservatism and liberalism are but two parts of what make us human. To isolate and pit them against each when all of reality tells us we need both in some measure to survive, is beyond ridiculous.
In the previous two 8 year presidential terms, we have seen that neglecting the middle class to serve the needs of the needs of the plutocrats with either quasi-progressive or quasi-conservative, neo-liberal policies (seems we can’t shake it loose, no matter how many times if fails) does not work and has resulted in the middle class seeking non-establishment candidates.
We have one now, that is not quite living up to expectations … if you believe all those “fake news” polls.
This is not a difficult problem. Every other developed country has figured out how to make sure that everyone has coverage. There are various systems out there, some using private insurance companies, some just using the government as the insurer. It should be possible for the bright minds in the US to come up a system that makes sense for the US. Personally, I think the Republicans are just to mean-spirited to want everyone one be covered. If they really did want people to be covered they would be able to come up with a plan.

Paulie wants us to trade actual coverage for access after he throws parents and grandparents under the bus.

This will only be appropriate once he’s booted from office by constituents who experience a brief attack of sanity.
