Don’t get it, shouldn’t they be soap, not oranges?

It’s from a time, from long ago, when moms and dads said brush after every meal. The change for today is bad breath and no dates with The Little Read Headed Girl.

I read the comments and I still don’t get it. I understand that in ages past, parents would wash their kids’ mouth out with soap if they cursed, but what do oranges & toothpaste have to do with each other? Is it because the taste is so different? But so is soap and oranges. I’ve never heard that you shouldn’t brush your teeth after eating an orange, or not eat an orange after brushing your teeth.

Have you all never heard that toothpaste and orange juice don’t go together? The toothpaste ingredient sodium lauryl sulfate makes orange juice taste like battery acid. Don’t take my word for it – try it yourself. Please! (;-)
