Trump had a moment last night. He gave a very presidential speech. Now the ball is in his court, will he blow it with a tweet that reverses what he has said? Will he talk like a populist and act like a nationalist? Or will he cut taxes, repeal and replace, fix the infrastructure, build the wall and increase military? If he can produce, it will be good for the country. But so far this president has not been able to put actions behind his words, for our sake I hope he does.
The abrupt change in tone makes me suspicious of true motivations. I’m disappointed that we do not have elected officials competent and confident enough to expand the details, extemporaneously, from a list of the issues they wish to incorporate into policy.
Tax cuts for the rich will pay for his YUGE military spending increase (and for the extra security costs for his golf weekends, such as Coast Guard patrols for his beach). The security shutting down local businesses when he stays at Mar-a-Lago is also helping the economy.
IOKIYAR. Republicans, as demonstrated by the entire history of the last 40 years, DO NOT CARE ABOUT DEFICITS. They pay deficit reduction lip service only, when Republicans are in control At all other times, DEFICITS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IN THE WORLD, because a Democrat might actually do something that involved helping the citizens of the United States.
So, IOKIYAR. Deficits will soar and Republicans will not care. Pretending they care is just something people do.

The Republicans will complain about the deficit just as soon as the Democrats get back in power.

Shouldn’t this cartoon say: “The Elephant Poop in the room”?
