Here’s to hoping the inauguration is lined with crowds with right arms outstretched, middle finger appropriately extended, and choruses of “Lock him up!” filling the air.
Women want more rights, LGBTQ want more rights, African Americans want more rights, Latinos want more rights, etc. etc. etc. You know, all of these “oppressed” minorities keep talking about all the rights they want but you never hear them talking about the new responsibilities they are willing to shoulder to get these rights.
That is what America has come too – All these groups want their special rights but they want SOMEONE ELSE to take the responsibilities.
There is real injustice in America and we all see it: Police committing violence against citizens, people being denied their due process in court, a war on drugs so insidious that much of America was willing to give up their civil rights in it’s pursuit, etc.
And we as Americans, when we see these real injustices, do what we can to correct them. But don’t expect mainstream America to recognize the “special” rights each of these minority groups wants for themselves at the expense of others.
Liberty: the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views. We have been free to live how we have chosen up until now, will we all have to change our lives, behaviors and political views for Trump? Justice: just behavior or treatment. Will we be treated justly under Trump?For a lot of American we will be losing Liberty and Justice, when did that become an American value? Our patriotic right-wing is trying to give our country away to Russia. I prefer liberty and justice for ALL.
Republicans are all for “original intent” which was restrictive on over 90% of the population. That part they like! They want only rich white male land owners to have full rights the rest of us are just living here. No rights to anything but oppression by the Elites and Super Rich. That is their mandate.
Maybe your name should be Methistopheles. None of these groups want MORE rights. They just want the rights GUARANTEED in our Constitution. The same rights white males have always had, and assumed only belonged to US, because the Bible, or tradition said so!
