^In one ear, out the other, no ear wax for Eddie! Like Wiley, I care for my country, and a wry look at absurdities as only he can do for us. In the most absurd year in our country’s history, let’s see what Wiley and the bears can do to keep us laughing, instead of sobbing, in the next.

Dear Americans, here is a thought for you to ponder in 2017 – if you can’t even get along with each other how do you expect the rest of us to get along with you? Happy New Year!

To the “caring and conservative” family: Your President Elect is neither caring nor conservative. He just does and thinks whatever he wants at the moment, and none of us can predict where this will go. (Shudder)

I see that nothing has changed with the new year. So I must continue with my astute observation those that must turn everything into a political diatribe. (and this includes both side )

    Bah ! Humbug !

It’s a shame that the election was divisive; I didn’t find that either candidate was worth supporting.

I don’t remember any election in the past 60-70 years that instantly had sometimes violent reaction to the results.

If memory serves (and often it doesn’t ;-) ), every year, I accepted the results, and considered the winner as my President. I’m sad not so much at the election results, as at violent reactions to it.

Perhaps this election was not so much about support for a candidate, as it was a vote against the status quo or perceived corruption.

Many who voted for Obama also voted for Trump. Many past Presidents did not do what they said they would do. There wasn’t a lot of discussion about the actual issues in the country.

Apparently, many people only talk to those who agree with them, and cannot imagine having a civil conversation with those who support the other candidate.

There were a lot of accusations on both sides. Information as well as disinformation was widely and quickly spread by the Internet. It was difficult to make heads or tails out of things.

I find it hard to believe that roughly half of our country truly has values totally scorned by the other half. There’s got to be a lot of common ground.

Few of us had personal knowledge of what these people were, what they stood for, how they thought and made decisions. I certainly don’t know either candidate personally. I realize that I made my decision without dead certainty of what the candidate would do.

As such, I realize that part of my decision was emotional rather than rational. People are sure to fault me for this, but most others must’ve done this too.

However, it is what it is.

Time to move on and give our new president the traditionai 100 days, to see what they will do.

Time to put emotion aside, accept the situation, and move on.

I see the conservatives will continue to put their own spin on things to the point that their statements are misleading or untrue. Example, Trump sent the stock market to record highs. So Obama gets no credit for almost tripling the Dow Jones average in 8 years. As he shouldn’t, because presidents can only influence broad economic policy, and have no direct control over something so specific. Another example, gas prices went to $5 per gallon under Obama after they were under $2 under Bush. Well sure, because the economy crashed in 2008, thanks to Republicans, and gas prices plummeted along with demand. Again presidents have no direct influence on that sort of thing. More than supply and demand, commodities speculators determine gas prices. But you never heard conservatives giving Obama credit for gas prices under $3 in the last couple years, either. Go to gasbuddy.com and play with the ten-year chart. Leave disinformation and religion out of politics and we will all get along better. This is a nation of laws, not a nation of commandments. But I do wish you would quit bearing false witness. That just pulls the rug out from under reality.

My whole life has been lived with the Russians as the enemy. I lived through the Cold War and mutually assured destruction. I lived through Watergate and Tricky Dicky. I was scared for the future of the nation throughout those times. I haven’t been concerned about America’s future in the years since Reagan. I am now. Trump makes me that way.

In 1969 I watched the worst President in history take office, and thought “Oh, well – at least it can’t get any worse!”In 1981, I watched the worst President in history take office, and thought “Oh, well – at least it can’t get any worse!”In 2001, I watched the worst President in history take office, and thought “Oh, well – at least it can’t get any worse!”Now, in 2017, I will once again watch the worst President in history take office – but this I’m worried I’ll never see another.

All you racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, homophobic morons who voted for Petulant-Elect Twitler have killed the American experiment in democracy.

“Anger is one of the greatest problems that we have to face in the world today.” “Whenever we cannot justify ourselves through reason, that is when anger rises. It is when reason ends that anger begins.”

The Dalai Lama’s “Little Book of Innner Peace”.

This pretty much explains the anger expressed by so many Trump supporters who voted for him, despite what he said, what he did, or his history of proven disgust for those he insults, which is pretty much anyone with less than a billion dollars and born like him with a platinum spoon in his behind. And THIS is whom the “average person” expects to represent them? Their anger is definitely NOT based in reason. Nor are any of Trump’s positions, and THAT is what is scary.

Keep the good stuff coming, Wiley!!
