Wonderful poetry from Bob! He deserves that Nobel.

The thing is, I’ve actually heard of Bob Dylan!! I doubt I would know any of the other nominees.

Good grief! This man is just a singer, an old, left-over hippie who doesn’t deserve a Nobel — are you flippin’ kidding me??

I noticed they seldom give Nobel Prizes to right wing war mongers.

Yes, for the POSSIBILITY he would do something peaceful after W.’s tenure. Not setting the bar too high….

In 1969, Anne McCaffrey wrote about “Dylanizing” in The Ship Who Sang.

I don’t think he’s even contacted the committee to pick it up. I congratulate him, but I don’t think he cares about the award.

Poetry is poetry fellas…the man cannot sing and they don’t give Nobels for music…do they…so let him be! Oh wait, what about John Lennon?

Considering all the absolute NOBODIES who have won Nobels for Literature and Poetry for crap that only 12 people will ever read, this isn’t so outlandish…!

They gave the Nobel to Obama as a way of expressing their disapproval of George Bush, Jr’s policies. After Obama had no choice but to continue certain battles, I’m sure they regretted their award.

And when Obama appeared on the Late Show with Steven Colbert last night in a skit where Colbert was playing a human resources director interviewing the Pres for a new job, he asked Obama if he’d won any awards. When Obama told Colbert about the Nobel and Colbert asked him ‘what for’, Obama said ‘To be honest, I don’t know’….

In the 9th grade I used the Sound of Silence as my poem to analyse/talk about before the class. My classmates objected but my teacher was chuffed ;-)

I went to the Rolling Thunder concert in my town in ‘76. I saw Ginsburg read some of his poetry. I say “saw” because I was at the far end of the stadium and couldn’t understand anything he was saying. At any rate, Dylan showed great taste in bringing him in.
