She also used the same law herself. Of course, that’s okay because she’s Illary. She could commit mass murder & it’d be fine, because she’s Illary.

The problem is not using the tax codes to his benefit, it’s archaic tax laws and regulations that benefit the wealthy and are biased to not collecting the necessary revenue to conduct the business of the nation.

It doesn’t matter what the president wants to do, without the House and Senate, the president can not change the tax code if the Republicans decide to do nothing for another four years. The law that says you can lose a billion dollars and not pay taxes for years is unfair. When I lose money I don’t get to claim I’m a great businessman and then not have to pay my taxes for this great country. That loophole helps prop up failed businessmen – this much is obvious. This is not Clinton’s

This is a test for Republicans and the undecided. If you vote Trump you get an “A” and he’ll send you a big sticker that says LOSER, if you send him a $50 donation.

Get real people the only choice is Hillary the sane Republican, if you love your country you’ll vote for her.

ok, i get it, he didn’t break the law (maybe – though hard to imagine living the jet set life while claiming such a loss without a bit a few lies — i.e., breaking the law), but (1) he is running for president of the united states and (2) criticizes others for not paying taxes and otherwise being a drain on government/taxpayers.plus he claims to be such a genius, how does he explain such a tremendous loss during a period of economic boom?

If you were given the opportunity to make more money, you would want to keep more of your money. so what do you do now with the money you make? Hmm? You want to keep more of it, right? So how is what you want different than what Trump wants or any one with any type of income small or great? The problem is not with the amount he makes it is with those who make less thinking he or anyone making more than them make too much. I make way less than Trump and still do everything I can to pay less…

Death and taxes are only for the plebes, the elite will never die and they do not pay taxes. sitting on their golden throne tweeting out mean thoughts at 3 AM. That is the kind of lifestyle you could have if you didn’t pay taxes. I think people who take money off shore, don’t pay taxes and don’t help our country are not very patriotic. Hillary Clinton is a patriot, and Donald Trump is not.

You don’t really think trumplethinskin figured out how to game the system himself, do you? He has very smart accountants. Last night I did hear something of interest. In ’95, drumph listed income of $3.6 million which is quite away from the billions he claims. There it was right on the first page of the tax documents published by the NYT. And the lies keep piling up.

Trump has assuredly paid his millions in taxes. He has structured himself to pay as little as possible in personal income tax. There is a distinction. Property taxes, business taxes, sales taxes….there are hundreds and thousands of taxes that he has paid.

We own a small business. We too take the deductions allowed. We still pay taxes and I am happy to write those checks. When we sold a piece of property, we wrote a check for $90K to the Feds. Glad to do it. We made the money, we paid the taxes. WE would have LOVED having that money in our pockets, but it was our willing obligation. The cost of living in the USA.

The sad fact is that if anyone in my lifetime did or said any of the things Trump has done or said they wouldn’t have a chance at being elected. They would have been laughed at, and denounced by everyone. We live in sad times, and they may become much much worse!

He legally took that loss and applied it to future personal income taxes. But the rest of us can’t, because you need to be really rich to do that under the current tax code. And if you think Trump is going to plug those loopholes since he knows where they are, you haven’t been paying attention. His tax plan makes it easier (with pass-through corporations) for rich people to pay no taxes. If you work for a living, expect your taxes to rise to pay for Trump’s gift to rich people like himself.

Actually, according this cartoon, Trump’s Tax sledgehammer (on the middle class) is better then Hillary’s Tax sock puppet! Unless, of course, you are in the middle class. The poor don’t care, they tend to not even pay taxes. The rich don’t care either, as they too tend to not pay taxes (as Trump loudly proclaims).

Without Trump’s tax returns, it is hard to know which tax provisions he used to his benefit. The most likely has to paper losses transferred between companies, which arose from a likely drafting error. The IRS litigated and lost, the Court ruling that the effect was probably not intended but the IRS was stuck with the wording actually used. This loophole was then closed, in about 2002, with then Senator Clinton voting in favour. 1/2

As is typical with tax laws, the change was not retroactive, so Trump kept the benefit of his ‘legal’ but ‘immoral’ use of the provision. 2/2
