Transcript:
Lupin: The dinner party ham has gone missing! It's a pork-tastrophe.
Elvis: It's a real cal-ham-ity, Lupin.
Lupin: The ham stakes have never been higher.
Puck: This is serious!
In the spirit of these puns:What the devil!? These jokes are smokin’, even if at poor little Puck’s expense. Canned his longing to pig out be cured? Sow many jokes, sow little time. At least we can’t claim to be boared. ( I’m glad I didn’t Pastis opportunity to chip in a little corn with the ham.) OK, that’s eight ham related puns with a veggie pun and a comics artist/writer pun on the side. Heh, plus that menu related meta-pun “on the side”.
Just to continue the discussion on format, do I understand that money is involved? That is tragic. Georgia’s art is a blessing to the world. She has a responsibility to humankind and felinekind to continue it even if she ends up starving. (As long as the cats don’t starve, of course.)
I feel for Georgia as an artist, I work two jobs to support my art and am looking at a third job to make ends meet. I’m told my work is very good to amazing. That only means I still have rent, bills, etc, due and less time to create from my inspiration. You do what you can, I hope BCN gets picked up by some papers. I love this strip and would watch it if it was a real tv news channel. Far more entertaining and way less depressing than the real news.
BCN is fantastic. Georgia is doing what she needs to do with the format to continue and make this a lucrative venture. We can and will make the adjustment and she also gets used to the daily format. Keep up the good work Georgia! I hope the pork rustlers are brought to justice soon.
A_Dream4u’s comment about BCN being a real network made me think- this strip would make a wonderful animated TV series. Any Nick or CN executives listening?
…I understand the need for Ms Dunn to make a living (don’t we all :) ) – what I would like to see is for the strip to be picked up by newspapers for her sake, and perhaps Ms Dunn can produce another book in her lovely non-daily strip style that we have all fallen in love with….not just a collection of the daily strips, but a book of separate larger format art pieces…that “Sunday with Sophie” strip was exquisite, and I’m afraid we’ll lose some of that beautiful artwork with the current format…
Used to do a running series of “ham” gags when I was in college, but they weren’t really puns. More like a Bob & Ray-type sketch where you invent an imaginary brand of ham and then start creating imaginary commercials for it, like “When you think ham, think Gunderson” or “Gunderson: the champagne of ham”.
Oh, what a twisted tale this is. It’s a pig deal for Pucky. He’s sow distraught. (The ham puns are spiraling out of control. Aren’t we boared of them yet?)
I’d try to investigate this further, but I’m headed to the kitchen for a ham on rye with bacon and cheese…AND mayo!Poor Pucky got smoked by someone who had a bone to pick with some ham hock…hope we find out tomarrow!

If Puck is Batman in this scenario, Lupin would be the Joker, leaving a much chagrined Elvis as Harley.

The ham was sold to a pawn shop to pay debts. In other words, it was ham hocked…

You people are cruel ! Poor Pucky is squealing in agony, and you pork fun at him.
We really do not want to push him too far, recall his boxing matches with the electric razor ! His little tail is already puffy.
