Whoever called this as a Gravel Gertie look-in yesterday was spot-on.

As noted, Mayor Armstrong may well have a fresh appreciation for Tracy as Rikki’s Rampage continues.

Wonder if the plots will somehow converge further down the line.

Morning, boys and girls (if any are present)! Morning, Vista Bill, AnyFace, 22ph, and Night-Gaunt49!

A little Gravel Gertie interlude (as it has turned out to be) is a nice device to help tie things together. But will she become even further involved in the Vampire Mechanique rampage?

There’s a rumor that since the Sherlock Holmes Museum, while on Baker Street, isn’t actually at 221B, the owners had to start a corporation named 221B so they could legally display that out front. Out-of-the-box thinking worthy of the man himself.

I see Tracey uses a single edge razor blade and shaving cup with brush, old school!

So, Tracy uses an old safety razor.

That makes sense. With a jaw like his, one of those new ones that conform to the curves of your face would be ineffective if you didn’t have any curves on your face.

How about this scenario: Since there is no “canon” age for Holmes’ death, in turns out that a very old Holmes met the very young Dick Tracy – a connection he doesn’t realize until seeing a picture displayed at 221B Baker Street :)

Sherlock Holmes was a fictional character.

But then, so is Dick Tracy…so, it’s a fictional ghost?

    _____________________________

In Tracy’s universe, some fictional characters are real. Here is an excerpt from a posting by Mike Curtis on Facebook (it was posted during the Phantom episode):

“In fleshing out the characters in TRACY, I found it easier to give Tracy some of my attributes, The joke is often told on me that i know everyone. So Tracy has met each of the crossover characters before. I decided Tracy was going to visit 221B Baker Street, but that in his world, literary characters are real. And Tracy is going toi meet (of at least visit locations) associated with his favorite charcters.”

I guess every Sunday will be devoted to Tracy’s vacation, and the weekdays (well, some of them) will follow the story with Rikki.

221b Baker St. is a bank building. There is a museum on Baker Street in London that is labeled 221b (and personally I found it a GREAT museum), but there is a plaque on the side of the bank building showing the actual location of the address.

I think the safety razor is part of the “timelessness” of the strip. Like all the hats people wear compared to real life, or car models that sometimes look decades old, At the same time they keep modern equipment around. It keeps the strip from being tied down to a too specific era.

The Holmes Museum is disappointing, pretty much just a small gift shop. The Holmes statue outside the Baker Street Tube Station is a better destination. (Assuming it is still there. I was there way back in 2001.)
