Necktie: the only standard article of clothing for which the maker’s label serves a practical function (tucking the skinny end into so it doesn’t stick out to the side).

It is a well-known fact that neckties cut off the oxygen to the brain.

I don’t like the feeling of wearing a tie, but I like the look of one when I have to. My favorite is a metallic gold patterned tie that I wear with a gold/black/red paisley pocket square. I figure that if you’re going to be strangled for eight hours, at least get in people’s faces with it.

I’m kinda proud of the fact that I don’t even own a tie anymore…

I avoid them whenever possible. Some people at work wear them but it is not mandatory so I never have.

I Hate Ties !!

Throughout my professional, working career, I did everything in my power not to be subject to wearing this piece of anachronistic male vanity !

Even at formal events, I would go to great lengths to avoid wearing a necktie – collarless formal shirts, turtlenecks, etc. – even bolo ties were preferable to the necktie.

Usually, one of the first things I did when taking over management of a hotel or resort was to change the uniforms of the employees and eliminate ties, altogether !

When forced to wear a necktie, I would, in rebellion, usually don the loudest, most outrageous, or weirdest one I could find. Ironically, much to my chagrin, these neck nooses always drew compliments.

I’m wearing a tie right now. Because of today’s comic I don’t feel foolish anymore. Thank you Ruben!

It’s just a matter of time before ties go the way of manual transmissions, CD players, and landlines. Just like the fedora did in the 50’s. It’s funny that all (male) politicians still wear neckties religiously, even though the vast majority of the male population no longer wear them.

Knot funny.

In Europe, the tie was the finishing touch to a gentleman’s waredroce and indicated he did not make a living working with his hands. The irony is in the 60’ & 70’s, is service repairfolk who worked on copiers (IBM, Kodak, & Xerox)had to wear them as part of the expected dress.
