We’ve bought several books at the library book sale. One bought for 5 bucks brought 250 at a fan sight.

I have to shake my head every year when we hold our library book sale; people line up to buy some of the same books they wouldn’t borrow for free.

You’ve really got to hand it to those two. Joy comes up with the most difficult of questions, yet each and every time, Burl rises to the occasion, and gives the greatest of all possible answers.

When our library has a sale, you can fill a brown paper sack for $5. I am so glad Hubby plays Tetris as much as he does!

They know happy hour starts at four. And everyone gets naked at six. The cash massage bar opens at seven, and the band starts at eight.

    What?

Oh. I wondered why there were no books.

Burl and Joy probably think they must be serving free snacks! Also, the Penney’s would be cutting their way to the head of the line if it were a video sale…

My theory is I own the library, and they keep all my books for me. When I need any, which is very often, I go online, make my requests, and then go pick them up within a few days when they are ready. Then I return them when I am done. My house is not full of books I read once and will never read again. I read a lot – this “fantasy” of mine helps keep me from buying and keeping books I am done with. It works for me. I also get DVDs and other items. Over covid I have been watching some old TV shows I never had time or interest in. Now they at least help me pass the time, and some I have enjoyed way more than I would have when they were current.

Pre-Kindle back in the early aughts, I used to LOVE book sales. I was a poor 20’s something and couldn’t afford brand new books from Barnes and Noble so I would take advantage of library sales and used bookstores. Our favorite was a used bookstore that would put together a “grab bag” of books for $5. It was actually a huge cardboard box filled with a particular genre and you’d get a couple dozen books. They would label them “Horror” or “Romance” etc. I always went with the Horror genres and while most were little known authors or books of short stories, every now and then I would get lucky and see a Stephen King or a Dean Koontz. I bought so many that when we moved years later, I had boxes and boxes filled with books.
