Safeway, the supermarket chain… in other places known as Von’s or Albertson’s… often has sales that make brand name products temporarily cheaper than the store’s own generic or copycat brands.
e.g. Best Foods (Hellman’s) mayonnaise, normally over $5, goes on sale for $2.99, when the not-as-good Safeway brand is still $3.79.
Yet at those times, I still see quarts of Safeway mayo in people’s carts.
Since there doesn’t seem to be a Find-It today…
maybe we can find the reason some people would rather pay more for the imitation.
I did once point this out to a nice elderly (gotta watch that word now that some think I qualify) lady…
not the mayo… but another store brand product in her cart that was more expensive than the on-9696sale brand…
and she said “Oh, that’s OK; this one is almost as good.”
The generic stuff is made by the Pantene company; it’s the stuff they mop up at the end of the day. This is also my claim for Guinness Extra Stout. (Which I love)
What’s really funny today is a commenter taking an ignorant and rude political swipe at people he knows nothing about, and then pretending he’s better then the characters portrayed in this CARTOON.

AT Walmart: Great Value is their store (generic) brand.
Great Value Instant White Rice, 42 oz $3.82
Minute White Instant Enriched Long Grain Rice, 42 oz $3.48 (Brand name)
More interesting: Great Value Instant White Rice, 28 oz $1.53
So 58 oz is $3.06
Guess what rice I buy.
