Way to go Berk! Love the story arc and so glad your back. I still remember when you helped force the evil animal testing at Mary Kay to stop with your “Night of the Mary Kay Commandos”. Keep up the good fight by drawing attention to our many social issues…or is it social madness we suffer from?

Actually, when I was in the hospital (at about Sam’s age) for two three-week stints, I liked the pudding pretty well. I also liked the Jell-O. The veggies were generally over-cooked a bit, and the liver was…well…liver (luckily, the first night they served me liver, mine had a glazing point in the first bite, and they took it back, brought me a hamburger, and never served me liver again!). The nursing staff was absolutely fabulous; kind, friendly, competent, even fawning, I would say.

Good save, Steve. Even utter self-absorption has its limits. As Mom once told me, there is always someone worse off than you.

I’ll remember this strip the next time I feel down about not having a girlfriend.
