It takes work to be perfect. It doesn’t just happen.

I had a perfect relationship once. I’ll probably never find a border collie like that again.

I imagine that, in real life, Janis would have used a more common word in place of “complain.”

And if it were perfect women would still need to complain about it! Lol!

Every time someone tells me “I can’t complain” as a description of how they’re doing, I always respond with "sure you can – you just won’t be able to make anyone else believe your complaints.’

    Who said “perfect” meant “easy”?

During the Apollo program the engineers were trying to design the 1.5 million pounds of thrust F1 rocket engines to always run perfectly. But, during testing, the engines would just stop working or blow up. To save the program a new engineer was sent in to find the problem. His one suggestion for them was to design the engine to run no matter what. Success!

I can honestly say Hubby and I have a perfect marriage. Forty-one years, and never an argument. However, the same cannot be said of my first go-round, so it evens out.

To quote, a certain Mrs. Ginsberg (on marriage):“Sometimes, my dear, it helps to be a little deaf.”

Maybe she would complain about having nothing to complain about?

It might be unwise to admit to even slight discord to your very new friend who is about to be single.

Relatively speaking I have a “perfect” relationship! It all depends on how you look at your own in relationship to others that you know.

My relationship is almost perfect…he has his place, I have mine. We spend time together and go back to our respective corners.

Regarding comments yesterday: Someone said Arlo has a good job. Never heard of him going to work (like Dagwood). Looks like A&J are both retired – likely early.

Maybe they go to work when we’re not looking. I mean, we typically see what, 2-5 minutes of their day?

When we got married in 1972, we refused the “till death do us part” phrase. Instead, we substituted “as long as we both work at it. Marriages made in Heaven are hard to find spare parts for.”

We have had our rough patches in the 43 years since then, but never had a point at which we both gave up at the same time. The last decade has been the best, particularly since we retired and moved to Ecuador. :)

It’s been said that marriages aren’t made in heaven: They come in a kit. You have to put them together. Occupied most of the last 20+ years of my life (counting all the prep); but I’m not complaining. I consider it guaranteed employment, at least until one of us passes the sell-by date.
