I had hopes that the evil cat next door would be marching with Cleo in a one day truce. Maybe that evil cat is waiting till this evening to set off fireworks and scaring Cleo and all her friends so they will hide under the bed. Happy 4th of July to everybody. Maybe next year, we can go without masks, or the year after that.
Feel free to watch them again Saturday night, if, like me, you won’t see real-life fireworks.
Eat some fried chicken, or whatever vegan substitute you must… pop open a cold one…. of whatever ilk… you can open any of the above links larger, in its own window…

It’s always confusing trying to figure out when to start the fireworks…
especially on the comics, right?
This is the July 4th strip… and it’s dark out here… perfect for our symbolic “bombs bursting in air”.
But I’m writing this very early in the morning… having not gone to bed yet…. so it still feels like July 3rd.
I was growling to myself a few hours ago about some kids out in the street lighting real fireworks…
not only because they’re annoying, and dangerously close to my car…
and also totally illegal in this county, in the height of fire season….
But besides all that, it was only the 3rd.
As for my virtual ones, though…. It may be the 4th now… but we don’t set them off pre-dawn… do we?
If I wait till dark on the real 4th of July, it’ll be almost time for the July 5th strip.
So…. let’s just all pretend it’s Saturday night!
