It’s just possible to read a totally different thing into a very common phrase….in other words, usually you’re buying 3 items for the price of 2. This time, you’re buy a “3” for the what you would buy a “2” for. A totally different interpretation. It’s not knee-slapping funny. It just makes you think. And, that’s frequently how this strip goes….

he just bought a “3” and must have paid the same price as if he had purchased a “2”….maybe????

Nice of you to say. Thanks!

“Or “just” get rid of the “www.” and put a “.” between “youtu” and “be” and delete the “?v=”…”

Do you think that is clear? Because it’s not. It sounds like you’re suggesting that he rewrite the code when it’s not necessary. If that wasn’t your intention, then perhaps you got confused as to what you wanted to say there. And, if you were being “tongue-in-cheek”, your attempt failed.

Some of the things over at the other site are confusing to newer users at first and sometimes, it varies from user to user, so it’s important to strive for the clearest directions. If I think directions could be clearer, I will try to step in to help clarify. If your nose is “out-of-joint” (which means, if you get insulted), that certainly is not my goal. I only want people to succeed in what they’re trying to do on the new site.

(I wrote it to Farside here on Ballard St. so I could be sure he wouldn’t miss it, in case you might be thinking that I was being “sneaky”. There is no way, currently, to leave messages at the other site, although that is something that we can check into at some point.)

    This is NOT a competition.

And, sometimes, what you write in English is confusing, even if you think it’s straightforward. I’m sorry, but that’s the way it is, sometimes.

Regarding your YouTube video embedding problems at the Cleo site: There is no need to re-write the URL (as Tigressy was suggesting).Just copy and paste the video URL (up in the browser box) into the comment box as is, right off YouTube, and post. After that, it may be necessary (as it is for me) to refresh the page, and the video automatically shows up! Easy peasy!

That is, of course, if your browser cooperates. MSN did not, but Chrome works like a charm! It took me a while to figure out that MSN was preventing me from embedding the videos.

    So,

1.copy URL off YouTube (do NOT re-write the address! That’s NOT necessary!)

    2. paste it in the comment box

    3. post

    4. Refresh the page.

[I usually write an introductory sentence or, at least put 3 dots above, then space, then URL, then space, then 3 dots again….just so that the spacing makes it look better. It will look like this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF5wTCYuFjU

If that doesn’t work, try Chrome.

And, did you notice that Mell has a beard?? …..again, unusual for Ballard St.!

Yep….I noticed, and decided that I would just mention it to you later, on the Q.T. I’m almost certain you did what I did when I was first getting used to spelling this name back in ’89: I so concentrated on the vowel group “GirOUArd” that I quite disregarded the “i” completely. I always said that the name should be changed to “Girouardey” so that ALL the vowels, including the sometimes “Y” would be covered!

Bottom line: not to worry. Max didn’t even notice!

    ……..and, UPWARD!

And, what a perfect comic for today and to leave GC with!! Hard to believe that it’s been 7 years, huh?
