Our church only has one service. We’re a small church where everyone knows everyone. It’s like a family. I am a Sunday School assistant, and play tambourine for our Worship Team. We’ve been going there since 1999. No regrets.

And they wonder why church attendance keeps going down. Cut down all the singing to a few key songs or two, focus on a strong inspirational message, and keep the theatrics to a minimum.

When I was a kid I went to a YMCA camp every summer. Always sang gospel music. Sad to say it’s out of favor these days. THAT’S how you get men to sing in church.

I really dislike being told to participate, especially in church. If I want to sit and listen to the message, just let me.

I never had a problem with the songs or karaoke church. I know you have to modernise to attract new people. I also realise that you need youth if you want to keep your church “alive and kicking.” Like I said, no problem there. I DO have a problem, however, with turning church into a disco or concert hall. Attracting youth shouldn’t come with a deafening volume and ignoring people, many of which helped build and grow said church, who complain about it. They seem to be blind to the fact they’re shooting themselves in the foot.
