When I was little, I wanted to be a carpenter, and my younger brother wanted to be a missionary. After we had a fight, I told him that from now on he would have to pay for all the mission carpentry …
When I was little, I wanted to be 3 things: a secretary, a performer, and a mommy. I’ve done all 3. (At one point I wanted to be a teacher…but then I hit junior high, and I thought, if I have to deal with these monsters, I want no part of it…and that was the end of that.)
There’s a Monty Python sketch about a prodigal son who returns home to his writer father after running away and getting his dream job in the coal mines. The dialogue is priceless.
At one point I wanted to be an astronaut, then paleontologist and work in comic books and I have always been a drawer of pictures and still am also I write.

All of the above work on weekends, too. Yup. Even insurance claims adjusters.

When I was little, my mother asked what I wanted to be. I said, “A conductor.” She asked, “street car or electrical?”

My dream job was always to be a world famous Rock Star.
I ended up drawing a webcomic instead.

What type of artist is dad? Fine art? Commercial? Graphic art? Comic illustrator? I don’t think I’ve ever seen…

I’d still rather work in art that any of those other jobs.
