Unlimited amounts of money have to be allowed in elections.

    Because Democrats do it too.

I’m guessing that the Rebubs are upset that people would pay big money to hear the Clintons speaches. A certain Repub had to virtually lock his audience in the room so people would have to listen to him.

Given that the current candidates — on BOTH sides — range from right-leaning centrist pro-Wall-Street (Hillary) to outright tinfoil-hat right-wing-nut-jobs, I’d welcome a more diverse group of candidates. Bernie Sanders is the only exception to the rule, and I’m hoping he pulls Hillary away from her conservative, overly pro-business leanings, but I am far from optimistic when the media barely acknowledges he exists.Face facts, folks – the huge impact of money means that every “viable” candidate is getting funding from big business. Indeed, that’s the real reason the Clintons are so hated by the GOP – they cracked the GOP code and started getting money from corporations to fund their elections, too. The so-called “neoliberal” is just a tool of business in liberal’s clothing. NAFTA is a prime example of that! The battle of bucks is simply bad for democracy.

See? I TOLD ya there was a difference between Republicans and Democrats!.Definitely chuckleworthy, but I’d much rather have a politician making plenty of money from speeches, than a politician who is determined to convert everything to money. Especially when that involves environmental rapine to make another billion or so.

Republicans’ concept of Democracy is exactly the same as Shareholder Democracy.

bdaverin: Considering the corporate media is prohibited from mentioning Greens and Socialists and increasingly discouraged from mentioning Libertarians, how would you know what “third party commentary” is? This Green tries, but are party labels absolutely required for every comment? By their fruits you shall know them. The party of Gene Debs and Norman Thomas isn’t even on enough ballots to take over even if they won all states which permitted its citizens to vote for them, and the other two barely are. Most of the country is already disenfranchised by “the single party with two names” and the mass media is totally under their control.

I guess Republicans do not give speeches for money and they are all besides themselves that the Clinton’s do.

The Republican Party abandoned Lincoln when they embraced the “Southern Strategy” and absorbed the Dixiecrats in order to elect Nixon. .From Wikipedia:From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don’t need any more than that…but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That’s where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats.— Nixon political strategist Kevin Phillips 1970 New York Times article
