Joan: THANKS for baby-sitting! Were they any trouble? Phil: Um... Val: Nope! None at all. Phil: We ran out of diapers, Max spray-painted the bathroom, and I still can't feel my LEFT FOOT. Val: What parents don't know won't hurt them. Phil: But their kids kinda hurt ME.

A load of crock! Phil is right….in fact I think you ought to throw a fishing net over the rugrats when you’re baby sitting.

Welcome to Val’s life. She cares about how her sister feels so she doesn’t sweat the small stuff. And that’s what family members do for each other.

Well, this may cure him from marrying someone with children.

Is Phil history? So far, his visits to Val have been somewhat less than positive…

Phil is not used to children to bad. I agree with Val. Her sister and husband needed time to themselves evan for sleep.

considering how messy Val and Phil look, I think her sister knows they were not perfect …

OK Val, now is the time to point out that Holly and Alix are much older and past that stage. If Phil continues with the relationship, he will get to miss most of what he just experienced. (Just slide over the challenges of the adolescent set)

Phil’s getting some perspective on being a Family Man, but nothing that’s going to make him run from Val. If anything, it’s probably just reinforcing his disinclination to have kids of “his own” which, barring any yet-unspoken desires of hers to have another baby, Val might consider a relief.
My last girlfriend (well, my latest; I certainly hope she wasn’t my last) was older, and was always worried that it bugged me that we wouldn’t have children together. It took a long time to put her mind at ease that fatherhood was an honor I dream not of.

That was sweet of Val to say. As long as it doesn’t involve any heirlooms, it can be fixed or replaced.

It’s always possible for Val to become pregnant accidentally.

If Val becomes pregnant accidentally there’s always adoption (or abortion). That said, I agree with Phil - the rugrats were brats.
