Depends on where you live. It was fairly uneventful this winter (my kids didn’t have a single snow day), but then nobody else exists except for people living on the East Coast.
One of the WARMEST winters on record, globally, and indeed just outside the East Coast! I observe that some people on this list are incapable of understanding anything beyond their locality — which explains a lot.
The Assistant Head of EPA said publicaly that we arfe already past tyhe point of no return on Global Climate Change and it’s time to prepare for the inevitable instead of trying to fight it. Why isn’t the “head” of the EPA talking about it instead of his assistant? There isn’t a head because the republicans refuse to confirm him.
We must remember the Tea-Party Creed folks:[]As a good an’ righteous Chrisshun, I only wants to hear the truth.[]That Global Climate change is an eeeeevil hoax bein’ perpytrated by Al Gore is whut ah wants to hear[]Therefore, it is th’ truth![]HALLELUJAH!
These comments serve as a good cross section of the climate change “debate” in this country. While the consensus of the scientific community is that global warming is certainly occurring and is driven by human activity, this is simply disputed or ignored by the deniers. Their strategy is to personalize the subject — Al Gore is the only one saying the Earth is warming, so prove he’s a liar and the argument is over. As for the scientific evidence, 1) cherry-pick data that seems to deny global warming is occurring, such as individual data points on sea ice; and 2) insist that the scientific community as a whole is being bribed by government grants to lie to us. And, as with all conservative views, reduce things to a bumper sticker: AL GORE LIED. Argument over. The good news for the denier community is that it’s too late — runaway warming is occurring, it will get worse even if we never burned another drop of oil, and the best we could hope for now would be to slow the catastrophe. And we won’t. There is enough confusion within the American electorate now that nothing will be done. The oil companies have won. Congratulations, guys.
Fixing the environment is the MOST Important thing we must do.It doesn’t matter what or who caused it, well it does , but the MAIN thing is the earth is now dying and we are the only species who can try to turn it around.Plankton are the very lowest on the food chain and they are dying off to the extent that it is considered nearly irreversable.
We have to stop bickering about why, about politics and try to save our earth!
Climate scientists agree that the Earth is warming, and that humans are the primary cause. This is settled science. For those people who think the “98% of climate scientists agree on the facts” isn’t accurate, in a sense you are right – but not the way you think. Actually, it’s higher. More like 99.989%, if you look at published papers.Denialists liked citing Mueller, until he did the most thorough research to date (in his view), and it agreed perfectly with the AGW theory, so he is now in the consensus. Then there was the guy at Harvard who, it turns out, was paid by the oil industry to try and talk against AGW, but even this guy had crap research, and was relying on his past reputation, because he couldn’t get the data to back up his view. He was very popular among the denialists, too. Those of you who think the world is not warming, and that humans are not the cause —you might as well join the Flat Earth Society. I understand they’re looking for members.
My region has had the warmest recorded winter in history, and four years of major drought. Crater Lake N.Pl has less then 50% of the previousy LOWEST recorded snowfall, and warm temps. Plants are responding to an early spring three weeks before “normal”, and THAT is significant, and scary.
Watching the biological community response over the last 50 years, not just 5, has revealed we’re looking at very serious problems, yes, caused by human activity, not sunspots, or cosmic winds, or the “tipping” of the Earth. Well if you consider the load of crap deniers are stacking up, that may be tipping us over the edge.

And they had to move the Iditarod race course this year because of lack of snow from all the warm weather Alaska has been having.
