Good way too early morning. Sir Hoppy has figured out that if he cries, he doesn’t have to spend the night in the den alone. That he can sleep in our bed all night. It’s 3:30 – mail has been checked, Ten Cat read. Hoppy and I are going back to bed.
Good Morning, the snow days have mostly been falling on Mondays, make for some 3 day weekends for me. I hope we don’t have too many more. I’d rather save my sick days for real emergencies.Chester was very vocal, everything he did even running he would go, “Mew mew mew mew mew rrroww! mew” Mama not as vocal but still quite talky.I abhor the silence he has left me with, Mama fills the gap a little, Poodle can make some noise being possibly part Siamese, hers is almost a quacking meow. Roy for his “mini Panther” size is a virtual mute, his sotto voce’ is a rare and sweet wonder when it is heard. In the four years we’ve had him, he has never uttered a simple “Meow”, It is almost a little complex song when he talks. One is given to flights of fancy, that he might be composing in his silence his next masterpiece.
@LadyTopaz1944 – I don’t think so. Yum Yum has never been filmed to my knowledge, unless someone has been filming her through living room window when we aren’t around. Where was this film segment taken? I live in Barrie, Ontario. Where are you located?
Queen, Dream, Yum Yum makes enough chattering for 3 cats sometimes! Her purr has at least 3 distinct tones. She has several different meows: one for her dish of wet food, one for treats, another for catnip, one that says “play with me”, another that says “where are you? I woke up and can’t find you”, yet another that says “Mommy or Daddy, stop sneezing and/or coughing RIGHT NOW!”. She has a couple of others I am still trying to decipher after 2 years.
Queen of America – I am in the Owens Valley, eastern sierra. We have a few small shelters, but the closest rescue groups are a 3 – 4 hours drive in all directions! And they nearly all refuse to adopt out of their area. It was a huge and frustrating problem for me when I lost my dog to cancer 2 years ago, trying to find another shepherd mix to love and hike with and who would be friendly to my cats. One rescuer finally relented and I made the 8 hour round trip and came home with my wonderful Freddog.
I miss having a kittie to talk to. The Late Great Toshie and I would talk to each other at night, in bed. I would read her the paper’s lost ads and tell her that those kitties who were lost didn’t come in when their mommies called them. She would answer with meows, Husband would tell us to stop talking and go to sleep!.
HappyHappy: I have not seen that Kilbran cat in a long time! I found it years ago and pasted it on one of my high school notebooks. I used to go around school humming and singing that little tune.
jessegooddoggy: I was just reading about Owen Valley. If Brad had his way, we’d probably be moving tomorrow. It looks like cowboy country.
I was trying to figure out a way to get Hoppy to you. He’s going in early Fri for a checkup on his paw and if he passes, will get his shots and neutered that day.
Speaking of Hoppy, Moose keeps taking Hoppys’ little cat bed. Mean Moosie! So I just put another kitty bed on the hassock for Hoppy. We’ll see how long before Moose takes that one, too.
Gweedo: when we do have to go down, I read all the way until we hit the spaghetti bowl. Then I have close my Kindle and watch traffic – I want to see the person who kills me. When we leave, once we pass the raceway, then I feel safe and can read for the next 2 hours.
Gweedo: we used to be excited about a weekend in LV – that was before we moved here. We go down there for horse events and rodeos. I used to make plans to do a bit of shopping at places like Trader Joes or eating at Joes Crab Shack, but not any more. The traffic just isn’t worth it.
Neither of us drinks or gambles so those aren’t big draws to us. The first time I ever went to LV, I was 26. I went with 2 girlfriends. I was playing the slots and lost $10 and it just about ruined my weekend. I have a hard time giving my money to casinos.

I’m willing. If jessegooddoggy is serious, I bet we could work it out.

No, it’s not the Vegas thing. I hate going down there. The traffic, the smoke, the zillions of people….ugh!
It’s the thought of finding a good home for Hoppy.
Well, and maybe the brand new White Castle. And / or Der Weinerschnitzle.
