I feel ’John’s pain’. Went shopping for shoes ONE time with my wife. We were at it from 10am until 3pm, visited at least six shoe stores(in and out of malls). I will not recount the pairs of shoes tried on. In the end, NO shoes were purchased(didn’t feel right, didn’t look right, etc, etc). Never went again ! ! ! !
I used to want to shop with my daughters, never my husband, but after a few trips to the mall, and me being the one sitting outside the dressing room, gave up that idea. Now when I go shopping I go alone, even for food. I prefer to take my time and don’t like idea of anyone waiting on me.
Looks like a Dunkin Donut and I avoid those places……too many choices.
In our early days together, when we were young and poor(ish), the Mr. would spend hours, if not days shopping for athletic shoes for daily wear. The problem was he was on his feet all day and would wear them out in about three months, he also refused to spend much on them. After going through this agony of shoe decision about three times (I hate shopping.) I finally was able to convince him it was a false economy buying cheap shoes. At least with the good ones I only had to go through it once a year or so.
I hate shopping, and would hate it more if I had a person to feel guilty about with me! And I’m abnormally tall- so most clothes in shops don’t fit. I have to Try On (women’s sizes never mention length or bust size, so they can’t be “just picked up” like men’s can) or just get the longest-looking thing and wear it to pieces. Guess which I choose?
The donuts thing, I totally understand. Making the wrong choice leads to serious regrets.
Why is John, a dentist, eating sugar-laden donuts ?-———-Because they’re good. (Jeez, talk about asking the obvious.)He’ll brush and floss when he gets home.
For me on donuts no problem I refuse them.As for men who go with the wife more have books to read while waiting. Been so long since I looked at clothes I would not know what to do.
He’s not simply eating a donut…he’s paying fealty to sugar, which creates cavities for his customers and thus money for him. Much less barbaric than Aztec sacrifices and tastier, too.
My first wife was like Elly in regards to the shoe store. She would spend a lot of time in those places, often with her friends. Occasionally they would wait for me in a place like the army-navy surplus store, but usually it was being patient with them. One long day I thought we were all done, only for them to suddenly see Victoria’s Secret had a sale at 50% off!

You can always go the pub for a pint (or two) while the wife is shopping.

Personally, my favorite donut has always been chocolate. Can’t beat those.
A nice turning of the tables here, too.
