OK – I think this is the start of a very sad, short story line that ran in memory of 9/11… note the “9/6” date and that the kids are playing “fireman”, including the “rushing into the smoky building” scenario they are going to play…
Used to play in an abandoned quarry that we called “the bomb hole” (due to the “EXPLOSIVES” warning signs), and a feature of the place was a sort of dirt clod that exploded into a rather appealing cloud (slogan: “The Only Thing Missing was U!”), which made the place even bombier for us.

A smoke bomb is a pyrotechnic device and does start fires in sheds with wooden floors.
