Joan: What are you TIE-DYEING?!
Alix & Holly: Our sheets!
Alix: We read about it in TWEEN MAGAZINE.
Holly: "101 Cheap 'N' Easy Makeovers."
Joan: Dare I ask what number you're on?
Holly: Next up - "Find Your Inner Muralist."
I agree – it’s their room, and as long as it can be covered with a coat of paint, have at it. Our two younger girls did a mural in their room, but added the faces with markers. Washable markers. We had to scrub forever to get to the point that the stuff didn’t bleed through.
Geesh! Glad you guys weren’t my mother! So what they tie dye their sheets? If they clean up the mess, so what? So they paint their room? It IS there space. Permission?? What, are they in prison?
I allowed my son draw graffiti in his room. Some were interesting to look at. I had it painted over when he moved out after high school. It is their room and they live in that room so why not let them do what they want in their room. However, I would suggest to paint the room with whiteboard or black chalkboard paint so they can use chalk or dry erase markers to draw – they can change their walls as often as they like. That is one thing that was not invented when my son lived with us.
The grandkids have by and large aged out of decorating the walls in the kitchen, hallway, bathroom, and their rooms. They used pencil and black crayon, mostly. The decorations are still there, awaiting the arrival of everyone at age 25 or older, or when anyone feels motivated to clean things up.

Oh, well, Joan seems to be taking this quite well…but, then, it isn’t Her bathroom that’s been converted into a tie-dyeing operation! ;)

I agree! And think how much easier it will be to get children to bed – your own tie-dyed sheets are waiting for you!
