Dumbass americans will rather see their children slaughtered than pass sensible gun laws. Who can understand their idiotic love for guns? The world watches in horror and disbelief
We must look to the great proponents of gun control Hitler ,Stalin, Mao tse tung,Kim Jong-unNorth Korea, Supreme leader any Dictator all have great gun control laws.
I seriously doubt that since the world has much greater problems going on than a few media blown up incidents here that you and the like use further your agenda more and more gun control.
So many people secretly want guns banned, but know that isn’t possible overnight so they outright lie and say we just need a little more control at each overblown media circus. chip, chip, chip, chip.
Below is a link to an article in the Wall Street Journal. The author cites criminologists, psychologists and psychiatrists. It is about what they have to say about who responsible for promoting mass killings. http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303309504579181702252120052
There have been an average of two deadly shooting incidents each month for the last five years. I can remember when the NRA advocated responsibility — the NRA of the 1960s would have curbstomped those Texas idiots for carelessly pointing their loaded weapons every which way.
They even wanted restrictions placed on public display of weapons, when they were afraid that African Americans were arming themselves.
1. At the time of the Constitution, you took your own weapons into the militias. The government didn’t supply them at that time.2. The makers of the Constitution could not have foreseen the fire power of today.3. Our “obsession” with guns does make historical sense. From very early on personal weapons were essential to survival, whether against wild animals or hostile natives – or our own on the frontier.4. The conflict is an understandable continuation of rural ethos v.s. urban law enforcement ethos, which makes that ethos harder to maintain.5. Some frontier towns in the second half of the 19th century had strict gun control laws (check them in when you enter town, pick them up when you leave) for their own protection against drunk cowboys.
The REAL PROBLEM isn’t the occasional nut who takes out 3 or even 20 at one time, it isn’t that flash flood, but the trickle of deaths across the country, EVERY DAY, that adds to tens of thousands of HUMANS killed, murdered, with firearms. We lead the “developed” nations of the world with our homicide and violent crime rates, even though, thankfully, those violent crimes have decreased to only a slightly insane level.
As a gun owner, certified on several weapons “expert” by the U.S. Army, law enforcement officer for nearly a decade, and hunter, with a concealed carry permit; I find it ludicrous that the Federal government has seen fit to make at least my state’s requirements for a CCP, to own or possess ANY firearm.
While many states have made getting a drivers license idiotically easy for folks who can’t drive to obtain, we need to go back to making them prove they can handle that 4,000 pound deadly weapon, and yes, there ARE background checks of folks getting drivers licenses. Licensing for a deadly weapon you can put in your pocket, or on a gun rack in your pickup, should be at least as strict.
As to mental health checks? Fine, and they need to go to folks who haven’t been committed or arrested if evidence indicates dangerous behaviors. AH, but there’s the rub, exactly where do laws, or police, determine who’s a danger, when the mentally unstable can fool their multiple psychiatric caregivers, for over a decade?
I am saddened by this tragedy, like all are. Having said that, I note that 3 of the victims died by stabbing, and the assailant also used his car to try to hit people. His guns were legally purchased in California, which has some of the most stringent gun control laws in the country.
This is truly sad, but this young man was going to kill regardless of the instrument (and by example, did).
so 3pibgorn9 you are ok with gov censoring tv,telephone ,internet since the founding fathers could not have thought of these// lawerance ks had strict gun control on 08/21/1863 — worked great
all the emotional libs and progressives do not seem to understand that the right to bear arms does NOT exist because of the constitution…the right to protect ourselves with arms etc. is from GOD…the government has no ability to rescind or limit rights granted from GOD..and the founders recognized that all peoples eventually need protection FROM governments . the U.S.A. included..
Once money gets involved in anything, the arguments are skewed. Things that were once hobbies and small-scale personal entertainments become Business, expand through mass merchandizing, and then Profits become the most important thing, the official validating. I believe this is happened in the following cases:.The food we eat turns into non-nutritious junk food , somewhat addictive. The visual media turn into prurient burlesque, mindless to mass-produce.Written news becomes electronic and liable to falsification and enhanced realism. Corporate ad research tends to produce cheesier entertainment products and shallow factoids . Medicine turns more to products and procedures for vanity and phony rejuvenation.Self-defense turns into aggressive fear with weaponry in bulk and increasing lethalness.Autos become shallow sheet-metal glamour objects, used to invoke envy and destruction.Religion turns to oppressive political power using advertising techniques with God as the implied Spokesperson.Outdoor entertainment requires increasing amounts of expensive mechanized equipment.Love is turned to desire, affection to lust, to spice up marketing all of the above products..In general:Quantity is preferred to Quality.Sophisticated Taste defers to juvenile tastelessness.Poetry yields to doggerel..Like the Divine Right of Kings, the Divine Right of Business is extolled by present day economic philosophers. They could be called the Prophets of Profits..But otherwise, everything’s okay with me. As with old people before me, it all delightfully validates my pessimism and I am strangely content. I consider the Universe my entertainment. It drives my wife nuts.
Who gives a rat’s ass if the rest of the world watches in horror and disbelief?? If we spent less time worrying about what the rest of the world thinks and taking care of our own, we would have a much better country. This administration has almost no foreign policy and has embarrassed the US virtually daily.
Two questions for all the righties here.-———————————————————————————-If the killer had ONLY had a gun, what are the chances he would still have been able to kill the people he stabbed by shooting them?-———————————————————————————-If the killer had ONLY had a knife, what are the chances he would still have been able to kill the people he shot by stabbing them?
So much for another lame false equivalency from the right-wing Repubs
You can argue back and forth for the rest of your lives…the bottom line is — if he hadn’t had a gun, 3 innocent people would still be alive and lots more would not be recovering from gunshot wounds. If nothing else we could at the very least register all guns, make folks take a gun training course to get one, and make folks responsible for what happens with the guns they buy and own. This is the requirement for driving and should be for any potentially dangerous activity.
The U.S. has the highest rate of gun ownership in the world: 88 guns per 100 people (that’s scary!). And no, we don’t have the highest rate of gun-induced homicide in the world—there are other social factors affecting these statistics—but it’s way up there.Imagine if we had the same strict gun-ownership policies as England, where the rate of homicide by firearms is only 2% that of the U.S., and there are only 6.2 firearms per 100 people.See http://whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com/2014/05/25/imagine-no-guns/
Did any of you gun control idiots happen to notice that three were stabbed? Do we need knife control, too? Do you know that more people are killed with hammers than with guns? Do we need hammer control, too? We are already running over with gun laws, what we need is enforcement.
Yeah, I wish the U.S.was more like Rwanda and you would only have 500,000 people killed in a few weeks by people wielding clubs and machetes. Who needs a gun when you have hatred and violence in your heart?
Maybe not. Angela Merkel was a member of the communist SED ( Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschland ) in East Germany before the Germany was reunited. The Communists hated the Nazis. God knows why ;-)
gnat90: You, of course, left out Switzerland. You can only have a gun as part of your membership in an extremely well-regulated militia (which is their sole military establishment), the gun and ammunition are the property of the government, and you better be able to account for every cartridge all the time. If you will support that degree of gun control, I will listen to you. Otherwise, the mid-’60s voice of the NRA using genocide if Dallas rioted as a recruiting tool drowns you out.
The police and armed services are trained in firearms use by NRA certified instructors.Every time you miss when shooting at someone you give him another chance to kill you. I know this may be hard for some of you to understand but sometimes people have to be shot to preserve the lives of the innocent.
