Turned down Butch and Sundance because he wanted top billing over Newman. Turned out for the better I think.

I find it hard to believe that anyone is eating hamburgers at this hour when all restaurants in the us are serving breakfast.

Yeah yeah… Americans eat about 5 billion burgers a year…there are a little over 500,000 minutes in a year…ergo…Americans eat, on average, a little under 100,000 burgers a minute.

But THIS minute? It’s 3:15 AM in California, 6:15 AM in New York.

I would bet decent money that 95,000 burgers will NOT be consumed in the next 60 seconds in the US… not even including Hawaii, where it’s earlier.

And far MORE than 95,000 will be consumed every minute between 5 and 8 pm in each time zone.

This is like saying YOU eat three burgers a week just because that’s the average.

Watch out for writers pushing assumptions about “every” based on “average”.

Steve McQueen also turned donw “Close encounter of the Third Kind” which was tailor-made for him by Spielberg…

He turned it down because the character had to cry in front of his children and McQueen did not want to cry on screen.

John Travolta turned down American Gigolo, An Officer and a Gentleman and Chicago. Richard Gere took them all.
