Now moles, on the other hand, are a problem in one’s yard.

In time there’ll be 32 or more squirrels showing up at feeding time if Opal keeps it up.

Squirrels chew wood. At an apartment complex I used to live in they’d chew their way into the attic and between the floors. Then they’d reproduce. They and their offspring would scamper around and you’d hear the scratching and skittering in the ceiling all day.

I feed my squirrels (and cardinals) sunflower seeds. I hang aluminum strainers in the trees, and put the sunflower seeds in them. This way, if it rains, the water will drain through. We have raised baby squirrels that were tossed on the ground by storms, and then released them when they were old enough to make it on their own.

Our squirrels are here for two purposes: to eat the birds’s seed, and to entertain our three dogs. So far the score is Squirrels 1582, Dogs 0, but the dogs do not give up.

Squirrels belong in the woods, not in town. They have become a real problem here. Chewing on cars, houses, anything they can get to. Help!

Squirrels are adorable, intelligent and athletic little critters. Why would one not want them around?

The squirrels in my back yard in Florida tried everything they could to annoy my dog. They’d constantly be chattering at him from tree limbs overhanging the back porch or even from the porch railing. He ignored all their sass. ’Course the reason for that was, he was as deaf as a fence post !

    Squirrels. They’re what’s for lunch.

Not entirely kidding either. There are a couple of restaurants in London that serve squirrel meat – the American Grey Squirrel – and once people get past the idea of eating a squirrel they found it quite tasty. So you don’t have to be a member of the Robertson Family to like to eat squirrel. But it helps.

I don’t get why some city people don’t like squirrel. They’re cute, and darned tasty! (and no, that’s not a joke)

If you know whether it was one squirrel 32 times or 32 different squirrels once each, you can’t kill them, because you know them as individuals. It’s only okay to kill them if you honestly can’t tell them apart.

“They would probably out live us all.”-possibly as species, but individually, not likely

Once we were visiting a spring where manatees were fed by state employees (in Homosassa Springs, FL, as I recall). One ingenious squirrel, who had found that he liked the alfalfa sprouts that the manatees ate, would hang by his hind feet from a wooden walkway and scoop up the sprouts in the water, using his front paws. He was a plump little dickens.
