I hate the hum of supposedly whisper quiet electronic but thrive off a fan for a good night’s sleep. The baby monitor made new mama insomnia even worse for me.

when my kids were babies they didn’t have baby monitors so I just had to listen and believe me listen I did. The phone, on my side of the bed, could ring forever and I would not hear it but let the baby scratch her sheets in the other room and I was wide awake. Its all is what you get used to listening for.

I agree with Hekko, finding my loved one had died in his or her sleep is my worst nightmare. I reach over and put my hand on my husbands back or side almost every night just to make sure he is still breathing.

I am so glad to see that I am not the only one that keeps checking. When he sleeps to long in the morning I am up to see if he takes a breath.

So what does it mean if your spouse (wife) does NOT check on you for life signs? Also, it seems from the comments that there is more women checking on sleeping men then vice versa.

Both hubby and I have apnea, so there’s a whole lot of checkin’ goin’ on. I spent a couple of days in the hospital, and he tucked me up on the sofa bed. (Our only bathroom is on the ground floor.) The next day I remarked that he looked worse than I did. “I came down a couple times, just to watch you breathe.”

how long have they been together? seems late in the day to worry about sleep problems after all this time. a baby monitor is only to hear if the baby cries not if it stops breathing. it’s useless for that purpose.

When I go I want to go like my Grandfather; peacefully asleep. Not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car..(Sorry….old joke)

The NSA isn’t listening to your baby monitor. It’s much worse. Your neighbor with a cheap scanner is listening to anything that happens in the room! Ya gotta watch that idle gossip ’bout your neighbors. :-)

Why is it if a woman works all day at housework and child-rearing and takes a nap it’s deserved. But if a man works all day in the rat race of life and takes a nap he’s dead?

What is a baby monitor? Spinsters don’t know that stuff. Another strip that makes no sense.
