Shirt? What Shirt? Mom always claimed that summer was the best time to save on laundry time. Skin cleaned easier than cloth and could be washed several times a day, if needed without damage to the “material”.

Except that my younger one half the time drops his ice cream off the cone!

Here they only sell frozen flavored water, not ice cream. Not the same at all.

ahhhh, the pleasure of summer when I was young. The Ice Cream man with all those wonderful treats. We used to beg for them and about once a week mom would let us get one, those were the best. Now days, for the most part, kids are not deprived of any kind of treat so they are never special. Humm, thinking I need to go buy some Popsicles.

Love these “you gotta love August” strips! Amazing how they conjure up memories that were forgotten. Thanks!

They must have burned their bare feet when they crossed the baking sidewalk to reach the ice cream truck. Ouch.

Man I remember growing up I lived at the start and end of a long circle (driving it woukd take around 5 minutes or half hour for an jce cream truck) So when we either heard or saw the truck. Me and my siblings would ask for money from our parents, then head across the street (it began on our side of the road)

I well remember those days. An ice cream bar was only 10 cents. One of those strawberry ones was about 20 cents.

Gwinnett County, Georgia. School started back today. Not so in love with August as we used to be.

I wish we had those kind of summer days with ice cream. We as kids did not. We had to make up our own games. We get to ride bikes. We had not books to read. Our mom did not like reading at all. Even today she does not like to read.

School time starts next week 8/14 due to bond issued classrooms have a/c. For me I will become scarce myself next week. I have taken on-line subjects for a while. When paying privately takes a while. Next spring that is if I pass this year I start the heart of my subject I chose, if not then try for a different subject. Medical Coding. What is worse major hospital chain just let go of workers. Not sure if due to retirement and hiring younger workers.

You gotta love August, unless you live in SE Georgia (and other places, too!) where the kids went back to school this past Monday. :(

Actually, with 100% humidity here, and rain six days out of seven, and temperatures in the eighties, no… I despise August.

August is a dry time here…low humidity, but still hot. Have to worry about forest fires. Thinking of the ice cream truck , I remember waiting for the truck to show up. A lot of the times it was Good Humor, but Carvel was the best. An ice cream truck used to come around our neighborhood, but there are few kids and the ones who are there live in very expensive homes…no need for the ice cream man as ice cream can be purchased at the local grocery store, and in one or more flavors. So, the ice cream truck doesn’t come around that often…which is good because the guy plays the same awful music over and Over again! Too bad most of our kids haven’t experienced the delight of having ice cream from an ice cream man in his truck… Ahhh, summer (actually, I think July is worst than August).

Growing up on a farm, there was no such thing as an ice cream man. But my Mom did have those Tupperware freeze Kool-Aid in to popsicle sets, so that’s what we got.
