    It is amazing – and sobering – what some people believe about Colorado. Some east coast friends of ours once asked whether Boulder had electricity.

    “Desperado”

    Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses?You been out ridin’ fences for so long now.Oh, you’re a hard one, But I know that you’ve got your reasons. These things that are pleasin’ you, Can hurt you somehow.

    Don’t you draw the queen of diamonds, boy,She’ll beat you if she’s able.Know the queen of hearts is always your best bet.Now it seems to me, some fine things, Have been laid upon your table. But you only want the things that you can’t get.

    Desperado, oh, you ain’t gettin’ no younger: Your pain and your hunger, they’re drivin’ you home. And freedom, oh freedom,Well, that’s just some people talkin’ Your prison is walking,Through this world all alone.

    And don’t your feet get cold in the winter time? The sky won’t snow, the sun won’t shine It’s hard to tell the night time from the day You’re loosin’ all your highs and lows Ain’t it funny how the feeling,Goes away?

    Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses? Come down from your fences, and open the gate It may be rainin’, but there’s a rainbow above you, You better let somebody love you, You better let somebody love you, You better let somebody love you, Before it’s too late.-I promise not to post any politically related comments.

    Simply put blame can be placed on both parties and thier BS partisan politics. It has costed lives on more than one occasion sadly not the first or last time. If yanyone chooses to believe ANYTHING and everything the government says you are a sheep just following aimless a lost shepard.

    newshound, don’t know what you are getting at, but I said at the start of this adventure that they would be returning to Duke’s place, without John Denver songs in the distance.

    @Susan Newman@RussHeim

    “Well, does it?’ (Does Boulder, CO, have electricity)

    **Funny you should ask!I wasn’t thinking of this when I posted that early comment about folks with stereotyped, old-west notions about Colorado, but the fact is Boulder not only has electricity, but is in process of taking its entire municipal self off the XcelEnergy grid, setting up its own local power system. Other Colo. posters here may have more info on that, as I don’t always retain details very well, but it’s been in the Denver Post and the Denver Business Journal of late.

    Re: yankees….not a concept here, in my experience. That’s more of an east-coast thing, a north-south thing. When I first arrived here from Delaware in 1973 as part of the back-to-the-land movement, the prejudice against folks from anywhere other than here was palpable. You could actually get “Native” license plates. The woman in whose home I lived for a while used to say, “I wish all these easterners would just go back where they came from!” (Her mother had been a native of upstate New York.) The slogan “Don’t Californicate Colorado” was popular, and Texans were spoken of in a tone of deep aversion. I don’t know whether that’s so much the case today, now that people are moving around so much more. I do know that Zipper is dreaming on all fronts: campsites and gold-panning must be paid for, and bartending involves living somewhere other than a campsite unless you have a good vehicle!

    With a little fact checking you will discover hill’s exact quote was “What difference, at this point, does it make?”. She referring to the cause of the attack, terrorist or a stupid red herring of a Youtube video. On funding a little fact checking would reveal the state department request for funding was not denied, but down sized because it included 25% increase in personnel that were not security folks. Security is handled by the Marines and CIA, not state department folks. The real kicker is even if full funding had been approved it would not have been in the budget on 9-11-2012.
