So, if the sight of her own reflection will hold her spellbound for eternity, what exactly is the effect of a live Male unicorn on Marigold? How can unicorns interact at all if the mere sight of their dazzling beauty renders them immobile? I suppose it could just be the females who are so awstruck. One could imagine how that would be advantageous for the males.

Among horses all that is required for a stallion to have his way with a mare is for the mare to remain motionless and unresisting.

Maybe his withers are so glossy and shiny that Marigold can see her reflection in them ;)

Withers = shoulders in a horse. They’re a favorite scratching spot

Hmmmm. I wonder how my humility would compare to that of LSH? I like to think my humility is a well developed virtue . . .maybe I’ll ask my friends what they think.

Stallions have a pheromone that gives a mare’s brains a lust freeze, if they are in season.

ok Im finally clear on those valentines now. Marigold swapped one for Lord and one from her to Phoebe. I thought she swapped one from her to him for one from Phoebe to Max. any how nice Marigold faces today. and I can’t wait to see other unicorns in the strip. Maybe Phoebe going with Marigold to swap the notes and we get to see the other world in the back ground. If We do all that swapping off panel and come back with it fixed I’ll be a little disappointed.

Regrettably, Marigold disclosed on Saturday that LSH is a primate.

I wonder if Dana will actually let us see Lord Splendid Humility…I would be interested in how a male unicorn looks in her mind.

Or LSH may not be a unicorn. He may be the white stag of German folklore, or a cerberus, or anything from enchanted forrest that has that powerful chest shoulder anatomy.

Wait, didn’t she refer to LSH as “being an odd little primate” just two strips back?

Nibbling is an equine form of social ineraction. The withers is on the topline at the base of the neck and in horses as a high density of touch receptors. Horses frequently stand facing each other and nibble on each others withers. Another avorite nibbling spot is the rump, around the base of the tail. Marigolds fascination with the withers may indicate that this area may be an erogenous zone for unicorns. I think the number of hearts flying around means there is more than a simple crush involved.

Maybe Lord Splendid Humility will take a liking to Dakota. She did express a wish for a unicorn of her own. :-)

The first question is, “Is ‘Lord’ a name or a title?” (I’ve known a real human whose first name was “Lady”, so the question really is an open one.) If it is a title, and if it accurately parallels human practice, then there are at least five things that “Lord” could mean; we just don’t have enough to go on. And we don’t know enough to guess about the rest of the title, either, because we still don’t know whether Marigold, Todd, and Lord live in the Pacific Northwest of the USA or whether they actually live on a parallel world separated from Earth by some kind of barrier that Marigold is able to easily penetrate. So at one extreme, Lord could be, say, the Duke of Greater California (Fairy Nobility), and at the other, he could be merely the Baron of Haywich Minor in the Shire of West Monoceretania.

On the other hand, if “Lord” be his name, then we know nothing at all.

“‘Data! data! data!’ [Holmes] cried impatiently. ‘I can’t make bricks without clay.’”

Yeah, I finally figured out the card mix-up thing about “odd little primate” – could have been worded more clearly.
