The best vacation I ever had: Friday, when we got out of work, my husband & I went to a rest area & picked up one of every brochure they had. We brought them home & sorted them: north, south, east & west. Every day we’d pick a direction and head that way. Sometimes we actually stopped at the places we had brochures for…and one night we never went home at all! Just picked up toiletries at a local store & got a motel room. No plans, no schedules…just get in the car & go. A new adventure every day.

Pretty much the best holiday in the Caribbean is one where you don’t get cell service and you have to just relax and talk to people. Try it. You’ll like it.

I was walking down the street yesterday, when a begger came up to me and asked for money. I told him I didn’t have any, since I only used a credit card (which is true). He then asked me to go to an ATM to get money to give him. Rather than doing that, I offered to take him to a store and buy food for him, but he didn’t want that. He only wanted money. When I asked him why, he showed me a bill that he couldn’t pay. It was a hotel bill. He had come to Iceland (which isn’t cheap) from Rumania, and was booked at a hotel (which isn’t cheap either, even if it was a rather inexpensive hotel), and he had no money at all. He obviously didn’t think things through quite as well as this strip.

Sounds like my kind of holiday. Just give me palm trees gently sway-ing in the wind, a sandy beach to walk on and beautiful blue water to look at and splash around in and I’d be very happy indeed! :-)

P.S.: This is why I’m in the process of turning my upstairs bonus room (aka: my “indoor she-shed”) into my very own little Georgian “coastal cottage” ….. complete with beach-y colored walls, knickknacks, pictures and white furniture. I may not live anywhere near a beach but it’ll make me FEEL as if I do every single time I’m up there reading or cross stitching! ♥

I have to agree with others here who think that would be a great holiday. I also love the idea that ktfahel described. We have lived in this area for a long time but still have not even visited the local museum.

Purple People Eater – were you visiting Iceland or do you live there? I do agree that Iceland is not cheap but worth every penny as it is such a beautiful country with awesome people.

Hi Mom! – since rgcviper is away and I miss seeing that expression I figured I would say it today.
