   They never had them, although I think it’s more a stylistic thing than an actual anatomical anomaly. They’re meant to be mangy sewer rats, not the usual cute kind of them, so fangs suit them better.

   Granted, no one really knows what they are. The latest info is that they simply were there when the mutants arrived, so they’re either mutated actual rats or something else entirely.

   IIRC Velda was seen before revealing the false food shortage propaganda to Jackrabbit. The other lady whose name I do forget apparently is in on the whole deal and in fact has been conspiring with the pig killers, maybe implicating Cooper in the whole deal.

   It’s a complicated affair, but I think Velda’s intent is good.

   Yea, by enquiring a long time ago on the somewhat specific mutating that seems to happen in two cases (Unity and the rats), while Unity has revealed itself to be an experiment in eugenics, it seems that there’s word from the author that the rats were never human at all.

   Maybe the mutagen work both ways. Yikes.
