   I’m not referencing projected warming, I’m referencing warming that has already occurred and been measured…If you mean the cause of said warming, nothing deniers love to point fingers out even comes close to explaining what is presently going on. We are changing the climate too fast for meaningful natural adaptation. If you need a more hands-on approach, there are basic at home primary school experiments you can do to explain the principles at play with warming. Not to mention the additional problem of sea level rise.

   The number of people saying “the climate has always changed” really are missing the point. Yes, the climate has always changed due to multiple reasons but always S-L-O-W-L-Y. What we are seeing now is not that. The current warming is dramatically faster than ever before. The climate changing by 1 degree over thousands of years is not the same as 1 degree of change over about 50-150 years (depending when you are measuring from) are not the same thing. The rate of increase matter a lot. Life on Earth can more easily adapt to a gradual change, but the same is not true of a sudden change (sudden on an evolutionary timescale). The RATE of warming can’t be ignored, and he truth is, human activity is the only explanation for the accelerated warming that the climate is seeing now.

   Tiff’s “Mm?” could mean that she’s not paying attention. Or it could also be an “Is that so?” Mm? because she can see that Gunther has returned and is behind Bets, perhaps witnessing her admitting that she made a mistake. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow.

   Toaster oven won’t work since ‘prune fingers’ has nothing to do with saturated skin and everything to do with your brain reacting to conditions it thinks you need extra grip for. Monty doesn’t need his hands dried, he needs to give the blood vessels that cause the wrinkling time to relax.

   Hey, plenty of people fall for some chicken companies bragging that they don’t use any growth hormones when all chicken is produced without hormones, so there’s nothing special about their chicken.

   I have to wonder how closely AZ PhinFan read the comic. Rat says “nothingness, peace or flames”. So the options of no afterlife, Heaven and Hell are already covered in the comic. The only thing left out is reincarnation. Forever is a long time, and no matter how great you may think Heaven will be, eternity will eventually erode any situation you find yourself in. As jnik23260 said, knowing that you don’t have forever actually makes life matter more to an atheist rather than the tired trope that we supposedly find life meaningless and hopeless.

   [geek] Actually, a Whovian would say “You can’t name all the Doctor’s companions”, not “Doctor Who’s companions”. Doctor Who is the name of the show, not the character’s name… [/geek]

   I could be wrong, but I think that when Jef, had the girl say that she never made a Mayan joke, that it was in reference to the fact that the Mayan’s didn’t ever predict the end of the world. Never made that joke = never predicted that? Either that or he’s referencing other strips going for the easy joke.
