Have to admit this made me laugh, but only a fool thinks a Trump administration would fix any of those problems. The real issue is an ineffective legislature that would rather posture than govern.

Honestly, I’m baffled. I know real upstanding, Chistian religious people who support some of the most vile infantile politicians around. They would never want their children acting like the politicians, but I guess they don’t care about the messengers as long as they feel their cares are being addressed. My fear is that their cares really aren’t being addressed. That they are being played.

We had a great grandmother whose first name was a Cherokee name but my cousin did research and found out through records that there was no ancestry at all. We could only surmise that our great-great grandparents just liked the way it sounded but is was odd even for the times. It caused most of us to wonder leading to the research. Not going to lie, I was disappointed.

One time in a discussion with a guy he stated, “You know, I could kill you with this pencil. guns aren’t the problem.” I replied, I bet you can’t from across the room. Also, I’d take my chances fending off a pencil. Gun lovers just don’t see them for what they are. Tools with a specific purpose which is to kill something. Not something to be revered. To that end assault weapons have one purpose and that is to mass kill.

My grandfather was a teacher. My mother was a teacher. My daughter is a teacher. They had kids who continued in adult life to stay in contact and thank them for helping them become informed and better educated persons. You sir, on the other hand must have had very poor teachers. I feel sorry for you. Very sad.

I liked McCain also even despite his past involvement in the Savings and Loan debacle. I did right up until he choose Sarah Palin as his running mate.

I would argue that while not ideal, the Union camps were better than Andersonville with the exception of Camp Douglas (estimates between 5-6,000 prisoner deaths vs. 12-13,000 at Andersonville). While atrocities happened at Andersonville and yes some by Wirz personally, much of the problems were due to a lack of substance and shelter for the prisoners due to shortages caused by the war. It is also true that there are many controversies and contradictions about Wirz. Too many to list here so do your own deep dive. It is also true that the monument in Andersonville was an answer by the UDOC to the many monuments that were going up in various Northern cities to the prisoners who died at Andersonville in the early 1900’s. One last note: this was also a period when the “Lost Cause” was really taking root in the South and so many people there were feeling unjustly vilified. The great thing about history is that for it to be useful, all of it needs to be reviewed and studied knowing that it is presented through a lens of the historian. That’s not being “Woke” that’s called being thorough.
