    Spot On.

And let’s be real. The Republicans are so left-wing now it’s comical. The Dems have moved just to the left of Mao.

The Politicians in this country stand for no political principals – they stand for POWER, and POSITION, and PROFIT. Let’s ditch the R and the D and just stick a P after their names. All of them. Then throw them all out and find some decent human beings to actually hold the offices.

A really good slogan for this party that would set it apart from the Ds and Rs would be something like: We are not whores for Wall Street.

Hi, I’m Bert and here in Va we have solved that problem by having ‘blended’ parties. We have Demlikins and Republicrats, each is a blend of both parties and practically indistinguishable from the other.

Cogent, (kinda funny name considering your attitude towards academics…Who else would you ask about political science?) .. And seriously, you really believe that people in government sit around and have meetings about how to make the government bigger? “Hey, Tom, what ideas do you have for making the government bigger??” And seriously, I bet you haven’t even had a political science class…Luddites never do…They pride themselves in NOT knowing anything about the subject they form their opinions about.

BTW, there is a fine line between feeding a troll and letting blatantly false statements stand. I believe sometimes you have to engage, if only to show that most people think the troll’s ideas are stupid if not dangerous. Therefore, call conservatives the American Taliban….

Skeptical, that’s the trouble with the cons, they don’t even acknowledge that a caution light exists….To them their are only two sides of an issue. They are two dimensional…Evidently they missed the fact we live in a three dimensional world….

I’d like to address a few comments1) under god. the people came seeking freedom of religion, and the gov’t was set up to clearly separate church and state. That was to protect the churches, but now it is needed to protect the gov’t.2) what’s good for business is good for the people. Yeah the people who own the business. The people who own the businesses also own the government. So for them it’s all good.3) lower taxes. there is a huge segment at the bottom of the ecomonic spectrum who pay no taxes even though they work and taxes are deducted from paychecks. When they file they get it all back plus what is called earned income credit. To be clear — they get back more than they put in. On the other end of the spectrum, the 1% have so many loopholes, trusts, and foundations they pay little or no taxes. That leaves the dwindling middle class to support local, state, and national gov’t.

So wake up, middle class. Take controll or become extinct. And then who’s gonna take care of the rest of us?

Skepti, quotes huh? Direct me to them…or did you hear that on the radio or TV?..Do you realize how preposterous it is to say they are only there to make government bigger? They aren’t trying to do something like building highways and bridges, sewer systems dredging harbors, defending the country? Are you really that naive, or are you trying desperately to make a point? I think it’s the latter, but it’s so stupid, that only crazy people would think that! I bet you are one of those who believed that highway signs had directions on the back so the Russian tanks that were said to already be in the country, could know where to go. Conservatives are very paranoid people, always a boogie man commin’ after them and their way of life/religion/values, or whatever. It’s always something…That’s why they should never be voted into government…They are unstable people…Newt’s a classic example…

Proposals for changes in the election process:

1 Each voter may cast one vote in each race, Each Candidate in a race shall have two options – For or Against. Total Against votes for each Candidate shall be subtracted from the total For votes for that Candidate.

(This supplies a option to voting for the lesser of two weasels.)

2 In each race, the Option “None of the Above is Acceptable”.

Should this option receive a plurality, the entire slate shall be rejected, and a second election with a new slate of candidate shall be held .

( The " A Plague on all their Houses " vote.)

The last would require a Constitutional Amendment:

3 Eliminate the “Winner Take All” option in the Electoral College. Each States EC votes shall be apportioned to the winners in each Congressional District, with the Senatorial EC votes going to the State wide Victor.

(This makes the states EC votes reflect the state as a whole, rather than 51% negating the other 49%, and a few highly populated states dominating the race.)

Part of the build-up to our current state of affairs is that some 30-50 years back, there was a push to get more ideological consistency within the major parties. Democrats were to be liberal/progressive, and Republicans were conservative/libertarian.

Result: the moderates got squeezed out, and the parties no longer feel they have to talk to each other.
