Cigarettes are legal, Doesn’t mean anyone has to encourage its use..

Just more illustration of the stupidity of having states IMHO.

Canada is legal coast to coast (federal law). If anything it has eliminated the street corner garbage. Pig tranquillizer in your joint can get you a shift or two on a respirator. My kid has leukemia, it helps his pain and appetite. Prescription T3 are wrecking his innards. Not much of a choice is it?

Some states tax medicinal marijuana. Why? Do they tax chemo drugs and insulin as well?

Omigawd, don’t give them any ideas!

Indiana is a lovely state. Not terribly progressive, but lovely. I lived in South Bend for quite a while.

On the whole, the initial economic effects of Prohibition were largely negative. The closing of breweries, distilleries and saloons , truckers, waiters, and other related trades led to the elimination of thousands of jobs. Prohibition cost the federal government a total of $11 billion in lost tax revenue, while costing over $300 million to enforce.

The growth of the illegal liquor trade under Prohibition made criminals of millions of Americans who were tempted by the inflated profits of illegal activity. As the trade in illegal alcohol became more lucrative, the quality of alcohol on the black market declined, killing on average, 1000 Americans died every year.The effects of Prohibition on law enforcement were also negative. Police officers and Prohibition agents alike were tempted by bribes or the lucrative opportunity to go into bootlegging themselves. Many stayed honest, but enough succumbed to the temptation that the stereotype of the corrupt Prohibition agent or local cop undermined public trust in law enforcement for the duration of the era. The jails and courts were overflowing demanding time that could have been devoted to other crimes.

We need to learn the lesson of prohibition. Cops are spending too much time fighting the drug war. Instead, legalize everything. Let the drug companies produce it. Sell it at cost plus taxes. If the drug lords come up with something popular on the street, legalize and produce that too. Rent out safe places where the drugs are sold to take the drugs, with medical assistance in case of a problem. History shows that taking the “naughty” factor out of it actually decreases use. Drug dealers would have no incentive to “hook” kids, because they wouldn’t be continuing customers. People gonna do what people gonna do. Give up the “drug war”, reap the tax rewards, cut down on the number of people we are having to feed in jails and put a whole lot of drug dealers out of business, while their profits go to better causes.

Have you notice that in states that have some kind of legal marijuana that when they have illegal marijuana that they destroy it and do not sell it. This seems like a waste.

Now a Medical News Note; Increased use of Marijuana has increased Marijuana related diseases.

Must wonder if Heroin will be made available OTC?

It was originally, you could buy it at a druggist, like aspirin.

Isn’t it amazing how many red states have legalized pot. and its even more amazing how those red state legislatures fight against it even when passed by a huge majority

Legalize marijuana or criminalize alcohol.

I currently live here and we have quite a few state reps who live in the 1800’s and want to keep it that way…
