Not all timeshares are bad – we bought (during construction, so the price was low) into a not-for-profit timeshare on Cape Cod. So we pay less than $600 for a week in early July.

I am grateful that I was flat broke when I went to my first timeshare meeting. I’ve never “invested” in one.

Crossing the river Styx? Must be on their way to the Condo HOA meeting! Where else could such unspeakable horrors exist except in the depths of such Stygian darkness!

Always wondered who was behind all those ‘time share cancellation’ companies whose ads I hear about on the radio

Yeah, but committing suicide doesn’t really solve THAT problem. Still, Charon taking you across the River Styx is something everyone only does once, so enjoy!

If he takes people who said they’d do anything to never see another political ad, he’d need a much bigger boat.

There is a real danger you can “inherit” a time share and all of its financial obligations. You have a limited time period to file in court a formal declaration declining the inheritance. It can even be from an uncle you never met if all his kids declined and you are next in line.

I’d just like to stop hearing commercials about how someone can help people get out of their timeshare.

Friend has had one for many years and he likes it. I stayed with him and his wife in Las Vegas in a nice condo unit. He likes to travel so it works for him.

It’s ok when you’re working and have kids to take on vacations. But eventually you’d gone every place you want to and enter the cruise phase of your retirement.

Somehow, not having heard much about time share scams for years, I thought they no longer were a business. Thought the same about not seeing poison ivy in my flower beds or Buttercup actually running again. All turned out wrong. S-i-i-i-g-h.

Sad that after all this time we haven’t been able to rid ourselves of the scourge of time shares. Will we never learn!?

I bought my time share through a “reseller” and paid approximately 1/5 of what they were asking at the resort. I’ve had it for over 25 years and either use it or trade it every year. Still a bargain for a weeks vacation.

I recall walking into a tourist spot when we were on our honeymoon in Hawaii and seeing, right next to the front door, a table set up selling timeshares. Walked another 20 steps farther in and there was another table offering you ways to get out of them. I suspected they were both operated by the same company, trying to play both ends against the middle.

Two obols (one for each, Charon’s fare) is pretty cheap for getting out of a time share.
