I’m impressed that Calvin is able to say “revelatory” while sticking his tongue out.

Calvin would know that considering he likes to blow raspberries at people.

I guess sticking your tongue out is revelatory.

That’s a real boy thing to do.

I used to lick my forearm to achieve the same thing…

Calvin must live a charmed life—in spite of the adults in it!!

Guess who is sitting in front of his computer with his tongue stuck out?

well, at least Hobbes tongue is firmly in his cheek.

This is another strip which shows one of the differences between Calvin and Hobbes. Calvin is generally experimental and ready to try new things – though obviously not meals that he hasn’t had before. This was shown clearly in one of his Spaceman Spiff fantasies in which he boasted about exploring new parts of the universe and discovering new worlds. In the last panel, he was back in reality and telling Mom, “I’m not eating this. I’ve never tried it before!” Hobbes, on the other hand, tends to question something before he tries it and often prefers not to try it.

Nyah!

Annnd that is why there are no famous tiger scientists.

Revelations come when they will, ready or not. Being open to them is not a requirement.

Will the dry tongue come in handy when you have to lick an ice cream cone, Calvin?

I have dry mouth syndrome and sometimes I wake up and my mouth feels like a desert in the summertime.

Every morning for me.

Someone drew Calvin with his tongue out and needed to use it for a punchline.

Does anyone still sell(beef) tongue?Seems like that would be sufficiently gross for Calvin.

That’s the one cult I haven’t heard of yet. Uh-oh.

That’s like when (at 6 years old) I came up with this grand idea of how it would be if I bent down and licked our patio. Didn’t work out so well. Around that age, I begged my mom to buy me Silly String because I thought I could use it to swing from building to building like Spiderman. So many crushed childhood dreams. LOL

Calvin is learning the often useful technique of speaking ‘tongue in cheek’.

Calvin will grow up to be a “Hold my beer and watch this.” kind of guy.

LOL… Calvin is one far out kid.

Do you suppose Watterson knows about this from personal experience?

I’ve seen cats stick out their tongues and leave them there for a few seconds. They’re cleaning themselves and they get distracted.
