Today’s strip reminds me of a UK comic strip called The Numbskulls about small characters who lived in a human head and influenced their human. It also reminds me of the later Pixar animation Inside Out.

This must be a common occurrence as all the Calvin-minions are wearing crash helmets.

As I said in an earlier reply, it wasn’t much of a fall as Calvin isn’t seeing stars this time. It makes the usual good use of comic art lettering, though, with Calvin’s AAAAAAAGH! across two panels and then a KABOOM!

That’s the worst when you misread that last step!

Sigh Bill Watterson is an incredible artist. His colored Sunday strips never cease to amaze me.

Ahh, yes… that same exact thing was going through my mind the time when I came home from a college party and feigned sobriety in front of my parents.

One of the great Sunday strips. All the little internal Calvin’s have goggles. And all have helmets, except one.

Aww, he’ll be OK. When you’re little, you bounce. When we get old, we just lay there and groan.

She; ‘’Are you all right?’’

Him; ‘’Do I look all right?’’ … ‘’Why was there a bottle on the stairs?’’

She; ‘’Oh, put that in the recycle bin.’’

“Reduce forward momentum!” Didn’t know I could do that!

Is Hobbes always absent on these various space (mis-)adventures? I can’t find one with Hobbes in it.

Everythings fine, he only landed on his head, absolutely nothing to damage up there!You think at that very same moment Suzy also fell down her stairs??? The things that make you ponder early in the morning..

I imagine my inner command crew is sort of like that, except they’re dogs. Pretty steady most of the time and then, every once in a while, they go spastic.

There was a brilliant 1940s radio drama on this topic: “Inside A Kid’s Head” by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. Wish I could find the audio someplace.

If a child falls and does not bounce, it is always very worrisome for a parent. However, “falling practice” is an essential part of learning to operate a complex and versatile body. :)

Had to reread the spaceship dialogue after seeing the final result, to enjoy it properly.

This is actually one of the rare few Sunday strips that got a follow-up much later down the line.

Looks like someone was in a hurry and took 1.5 stairs at a time. Can’t say I’ve never done that.

I can’t help but wonder if Calvin’s parent know of all the crazy things he envisions??

Nice to see Mom worried about his health and not angry at him for crashing around.

One of the few times his mother isn’t mad at him.

The return of the Human Slinky! I’ve had a few bad dreams like that where I was free-falling down the stairs, and after I woke up screaming, I said “Damage assessment is under way.”
