Is it an odd angle, or is the water forming a hill beyond the ferryman? If the laws of physics have been suspended, this could be an interesting ride indeed.
If my memory serves, anyone coming into contact with Styx’ waters would become paralyzed and sink to the bottom. But it’s been a long time since I studied Greek mythology.
Lots of fun comments. I see the picture — as a whole — as a metaphor: When you engage in risky behavior, a death-defying stunt, you are traveling with the final ferryman.

Hey if you going to go, you may as well arrive while water skiing down the Styx.

I don’t believe Charon moves the boat fast enough for skiing.

Death where is thy stunt? Gone a’pushing up a watery grave full of old tax returns. Beelzebub is not amused to be challenged for one’s soul.

Carl loved water-skiing… It’s why he’s there. He should never have tried to cross the course of a cigarette boat race.

Tubing the River Styx into The Pit—
All the way down to the bottom
All the way down to the fire
All the way down to the devil

To the bottom of the pit, now

Death-defying? Death looks quite cooperative here.

Amazing. That’s exactly what I imagine whenever anyone asks me if I want to water ski. Except my image of death has a clown face tattoo

I didn’t know Death gave you a ride to hell, I figured it was more like a transporter, Ala Star Trek

In this situation because of the non death defying stunt in the first place.

The boat will not go fast enough to lift Carl out of the water. Which is good, since he looks like he may be naked.
