I like the direction this is going in but they didn’t need another comic of Tiffany hyping Bets up.

And cue nitpickers in 3 2 1….

Silly me. I had this whimsical fantasy of a new arc this week, but no such luck. The soap opera continues.

Tiff: “ACTIONS are what counts”

Bets: “So about my refund?”

lol, do I read sarcasm in Bets’s first remark? I mean, when was the last time Tiffany actually went on a date? Bets has some sass in the last panel, too. I mean, she’s technically right- Tiff is unusually on the ball here. We’ll see if this can make the two adversaries make nice.

Sheesh.

Way to be condescending to someone trying to help ya, Bets.

And some “folks” are forever giving Gunther grief for referring to Tiffany as “dumb.”

At least he didn’t call her that to her face.

Let’s see now.

Tiffany has the makings of an effective first-rate counselor.

While Bets can be an insufferable, insulting little snot when she wants to be. Plus she’s cute.

Bernice had better be careful, lest she finds herself out of a job. :)

Meanwhile, what kind of actions have we seen from Bets towards Gunther?

That’s a first.

Many of us are surprised too, Bets.

(Not that we don’t love her. — some of us anyway.)

Tif actually does sound smart.

Tiff I give grief a lot of times. I’m proud when you stand up to Anne and more proud of you when you give sound advice to Bets.

Ok I’m stating this now. If Bets and Gunther get back together with all the mental problems she has, I’m probably going to take a break from Luann for a while. This feels a little insulting to me because I have mental health issues that I know I need to work through before I even commit to a relationship. There’s a difference between meeting somebody who can handle that kind of pressure with you and meeting somebody who can’t. Gunther is the latter.

“Sure, you’re super sucessful with guys!”“No I’m not, and never have been, That was all lies from that jealous Luann. All I ever did was wear little cheerleading outfits and put on makeup in class. Even the guidance councilor called me a slut. I’m not sucessful with guys, no, but I did go down yet another dress size tonight. Why don’’t you date Ox, instead? He’s not attractive, but he’ll do whatever you like!’

I wish people would focus on the story as it is and not on projections on what they wish it to be. Tiffany is showing wisdom and concern for others beyond herself because she feels its right, not for some selfish reason, while Bets is showing somw humility, understanding, and the true (true) nature of her love (love) for Gunther. I think the arc’s continuing for another week is important to develop her as a continuing and central character, serious girlfriend for Gunther and true friend of Tiffany’s. Of course misdirection plays lurk but somehow I think not so much here. All you Bets haters should realize no one is perfect, but they can be right.

If Betts cab believe this concept and go apologize to Gunther, she will have grown.

If she apologizes and Gunther still says”No,” then he has grown.

Tiff has tried to help her friend and gotten the ball rolling.

Tiff didn’t even feel the low blow in frame 1.

I hope there’s more to this than Bets just “seeing the light.”

Hmm. Developments may be swinging back in favor of my out on a limb prediction of Bets & Gunther dining at TTF2T2.

Another week of this. Sigh. Used to look forward to this strip. Now it’s just a habit. For now.

What Happens now! Will Bets chase after Gunther? Ask forgiveness?

They should have started a new story arc. Unfortunately, with Gunther gone etc, …this one is starting to get boring now.

Someone has been reading her copy of “How To Win Friends And Influence People”.

Tiffany should be a relationship coach. She’s certainly come a long way from the snobby, self-absorbed teenager she used to be.

I think this going on so long because G&K are heavily investing making Bets and her relationship w Gunth a long term/arc. But they had to spend a week showing Bets other side – her baggage, love for Gunth – before this week of reconciliation. If the characters didn’t work for it, the nit pickers would be saying how even MORE unrealistic this is.

So this arc, even if Gunter doesn’t take Bets back, is some of the best writing this strip has had. Great job G&K!

Well at the end of the day, it is what it is and it’s all good!

I think I need a better definition of “Super successful with guys”.

Tiffany is a lovely and sincere friend. She reached into Bets’ heart and managed to show her how much Gunther is a good and sincere guy who really loves her ♡. She has so much patience with Bets, such a calm, loving and polite way of talking to her scared soul♡. It’s sad to think how Tiffany’s experience surely involves her always distant father and how Tom behaves with her. Tiffany definitely knows the difference between Words and Actions.

I was expecting / hoping for a new story this week. This one has worn out it’s welcome and now smells like last weeks halibut. This strip has become slower than molasses in January.

Tiff would be a good therapist. She’s developed good people skills and an excellent set of boundaries.

I guess Tiffany is not as shallow as everyone thinks.

Yeah, she does. Just who the heck are you really, and what have you done with Tiffany?

If Gunther was smart he would be halfway to Puerto Penasco or Cabo by now (assuming that the gang in somewhere in Orange or LA County) where he can hole up until all this blows over and brush up on his Spanish. More likely he is probably shell shocked and moping around the gulag and probably about to take a bad piece of advice from Les.

Next semester, Bernice should hire Tiffany to write her psychology papers.

This time, I hope Gunther dumps her for good.

As rarely as Tiffany sounds smart, this is Bets’ cue to buy a Lotto ticket.

I really, REALLY don’t like this smarmy wise ass. I hope Gunther has the good sense to finally kick her to the curb.

Bets, just take a chance and let someone into your life.

Man, this dynamic reminds me of how Bernice talks to Luann. At least these 2 aren’t supposed to be friends. Bets still sucks tho.

For the record, men aren’t the only ones loose with words of love. I know a woman who says, “I love, you” on a regular basis but her actions towards me and others of her lovers is anything but.

Tiffany has evolved from a jerk to a caring person.

As I keep saying, Tiffany is a nice girl at heart.

Week 3 of this segment? C’mon man, I’ve seen manga redemption arcs go faster than this. At least put in some action where Gunth punches Bets through a wall and Tiffany rains heart-shaped fireballs on the battlefield of love or something.

Maybe the titular character can stick her head in a frame so we remember the name of the comic, instead of focusing on a side character’s side character.

Well, Gunther’s last action was to walk away, so there’s that…

Can someone please slap that smirk off Bets’ face?

Stop right now, Tiffany! You know deep inside that Bets is wrong for Gunther! Honestly, you’re being so stupid right now, and you’ll be to blame when she bolts again!

Oh, yes – the girl who’s never had a steady boyfriend and is not seeing anyone right now is super successful with guys. (Still, it is some good advice…)

I like how Tiffany ignores Bets sarcasm and delivers good advice. I agree with Bets, Tiffany does sound smart, and fairly insightful for someone who started out in a “dumb blonde” role. Whether Bets tries to approach Gunther is another thing, as is the possibility he’ll be willing to trust her. That could go in any direction.As to Bets wanting her apology and money from Tiffany, that, too is possible. Especially if Gunther wants nothing to do with her and that sets her off again on a rant. Guess I don’t trust Bets either, not yet.

MAN people here seem amazingly DIM when it comes to sarcasm. bets was being sarcastic in panel one, and Tiff dismissed it in panel 2. Read the room people.

Seriously? They are still flogging this mule? Tiffany is one of those people who loves the sound of her own voice so much she could go on talking and talking and talking for weeks. I’m not impressed with her counseling at all (especially since she has never been in a relationship). It’s always real easy for those who haven’t “been there” to hand out their road maps to others. She’s still a liar and a cheat and hasn’t apologized or given the $300 refund that Bets is owed (which is what she promised). I personally think that Gunther has proved he is way too wimpy and shallow for Bets. She could do much better.

Unfortunately, time has moved on and left the once ultra-sexy Tiffany in a world where ultra-sexy is not enough anymore. Tiff needs a love life. Even Bernice is getting more action than Tiffany, and Bernice is pushing it with a real dead end character.

Bets did point out one thing: Tiffany has no actual experience with guys. But, Tiff isn’t wrong about Gunther’s actions.

Like I keep saying… no one is wrong ALL the time… the tough part for some people is picking out the few times that’s true

Here’s what I’d like to see: Tiff could suggest that Bets find a good psychologist and start working on those issues so she can get well in the long run.

I see a bit of Crystal in Bets’s response here. Tiffany must be used to this reaction by now from her friends and acquaintances.

On another topic I wonder whether it is time for some of the main characters to reconsider their career plans. Maybe it’s Tiffany rather than Bernice who should go into counseling. I could see her going into a new age version of couples counseling. Bernice, having spent more time with Nil on the arts scene, decides to work in, and eventually own, a gallery.Gunther, who has never shown any genuine interest in engineering but apparently did it for practical reasons (and because that’s what nerds stereotypically do), decides to follow his bliss and sew costumes, starting out on the local theatre scene as well as making a bundle selling outfits online for cosplay events.

OK, consider that Bet’s was being sarcastic, when she quipped that Tiffany was “super successful with guys”.Neither Bets or Tiffany has been “successful” with guys, but both seem oblivious to the fact that Gunther has left.Unless Gunther is stuck at Tiffany’s gate or waiting for an uber, he should be gone by now.The sad thing is that Tiffany and Bets echoed Luann & Bernice’s actions after the breakup.Bet’s has done enough self-sabotaging to the relationship that Gunther may have had enough. I don’t think he would ever hurt her, but I don’t know if he can ever trust her

What Tiff is saying in her own inimitable way, is “actions speak louder than words”!

BUT On the other hand… Is Gunther getting the same advice in a guy to guy discussion?

If he applies this axiom from his standpoint, Bets’ actions would not provide very good testimony!

I have the perfect ending for this “Meet The New Tiffany” show ( I guess she finally ingested enough of that stuff Ann puts in the water). Gunther is waiting out front by Bet’s car. Tiffany stands at an upstairs window and observes them embracing, (because of course, she is so good at eavesdropping and spying on people). She looks down. The $300 is still in her pocket. End. The End. Please.

PS to Evans – you might want to think about updating the profile descriptions for your characters when you spin a whole new personality for them in the strip.

I still see this as Bets looking out only for what SHE wants and what SHE gets out of things. Have yet to see Bets express concern that Gunther be happy.

Tiffany, so far as we know, has never had a boyfriend, nor even a date. So she’s giving “guy advice” now?

Ouch. The biting sarcasm from the first panel really smarts…

Tiffany is a good friend to both Gunther and Bets. I am quite sure she has heard the same lies from guys that Bets has. Hard to believe the snobbish teenager turned into such a strong and yet caring character.

While Bets and Tiffany commiserate, Gun has left to listen to “Only For The Birds” by Ruth Wallis.

Mt crystal ball says Tiff’s a natural mogul. She’ll probably wind up in a fashion business like Simone Soufflé of Soufflé Lingerie of Paris. She will become wild affluent in her own right and eventually hook up with the Industrial Design phenom Gunther Berger in a marriage that will cause Mordock999 (and some others of us) to break out in near orgasmic delight! 8^ )

Tiffany’s seen her share of hypocrites. Including herself.

Nothing that Bets has said or done thus far makes me like her better. Tiff, on the other hand… :D

Hopefully we will see Gunther talking to some male this week who gives him good advice. I don’t think Tiffany and Bets have much left to talk about.

When someone says “no offense” they mean to offend.

This arc shows how Tiffany’s character has improved over the years.l

Here’s for hoping for a Saturday wrap-up, whatever the outcome may be.

I still think Bets has a valid concern about weather Gunther is simply going to be a tool for any pritty girl (ahem, Tiff) who comes along. Am I the only one who notices that guy’s actions chainge as much as there words, often in direct coralletion to my skirt length?

Body Language Situational Assessment!

Panel 1: Tiff reaches out and touches Bets, indicating she’s seeking to bond with Bets. At least for the moment, Bets’ folded arms indicates she covered up, defensive… closed to Tiff’s overture.

Panel 2 – Facial only: Tiff continues with her open honest expression. Bets appears pensive, reflective.

Panel 3: Tiff’s open arms are indicating no guile or reservation toward Bets or from her advice. Bet’s fists on hips shows reversion to aggressiveness, readiness for action.

Bets needs to show some form of friendly response to Tiff and/or a change of mood toward the situation for a positive outcome. If she reverts to anger/displeasure over the TTFT incident, a negative outcome is much more likely.

Haven’t read any of the comments yet, but……

Is it just me, or does Bets appear to be acting snide and sarcastic to Tiff in the first panel? Her stance is not friendly, and I can almost hear the sarcasm dripping from her words: “Yeah, you’re super successful with guys.”

Well Bets, by your own admission, you’re not such a success with guys yourself. You have no room to talk.

so this is summer saga #2 for 2021, much to the disappointment of some but I am enjoying it despite Bets’ sarcastic comment about Tiffany being super successful with guys which seems out of place since Bets freely admits that she has been super unsuccessful i.e. having been left multiple times over the L word. I always felt that Bets was too interesting a character to just walk away and not come back. G&K have plans for her.

Tiff admits, she’s heard every Lie in the book from horny guys.

Does it look to y’all that Tiff is slimming down recently? Make her stop that.

But the truth is that Tiffany really has been the Voice of Reason in this arc. I think we are all amazed, and many of us favorably disposed toward the “new” Tiffster….

So I’m guessing that tomorrow or the next day Bets will try to contact Gunther and Gunther will not respond. And Those Who Object To Bets Vociferously will rejoice.

Here’s my answer to all you folks that think Bets is being snide or rude in panel three. You have to remember, Bets is the one who has seen Tiffany being the most stupid girl in town. Bets is the one who has been helping her with her classes so she doesn’t get kicked out of school. If anyone has a right to kid Tiffany about being smart it’s Bets. Bets is the one who has sat with Tiffany and tried to help her learn. For someone like Bets, who is smart and doing well in school, it had to have been like being in hell. So Tiffany, being the appreciative type of person she is, does her little counseling act and the first thing she does is state all of Bets’ bad traits, while depicting Gunther as such a perfect person with no bad habits at all. If anyone is being snide and rude it’s Tiffany. If Tiffany were any kind of honest person she would apologize" to Bets, thank her for her help, give her the $300 and then go tell her teacher that her “A” paper was based on a big fat pile of lies.

Bets reminds me of Prince Harry (Gunther) and Meghan (Bets). Bets is a ‘gold digger’.

Remind me again why we like Bets?
